Question Help - how to attach brake controller?

So after waiting months for our Casita travel trailer, we are going to pick it up tomorrow. Got a Prodigy brake controller, but can't find the connector from controller wires to the wires for the Prodigy controller.
HELP please!
(called dealer/parts--they are clueless and are calling honda--so no help)

Re: Help - how to attach brake controller?

Assuming you have the factory towing harness, they are usually tucked up over top of the parkiing brake assembly. IIRC, it's a gray 4-pin flat connector. Look in your owners manual under "Towing a Trailer".

Meanders, there is indeed an adapter hiding up there, but what's there is a four-pin Honda connector for brake controllers. There are two ways you can use this:
  1. If you bought the OEM hitch and wiring kit, Honda gave you a pigtail adapter with that kit. The pigtail has the connector and four wires (each labeled) attached to it. To connect your Prodigy (or any other brake controller), get the wiring diagram for the brake controller, connect the wires appropriately, and then simply plug the connectors together
  2. Contact Prodigy and see if they make their own adapter which connects to the one already in your truck.
I just installed a Tekonsha brake controller tonight. First I found the connector under my dash and removed the tape. Next I found the Tekonsha wiring diagram online and connected the wires to the pigtail. Once complete, I just plugged the two together and mounted the controller to the right of the emergency brake with a few screws. Took about 20 minutes. Hope this helps!

Re: Help - how to attach brake controller?

The Tekonsha web site does not show an adapter for the RL, so it looks like splicing to the pigtail provided with the OEM harness is the way to go.

This is what I had to do with my Tekonsha Sentinel

Bandit
Thanks
I think I lost my pigtail.
The pickup day was too much (I had just broken my foot).
I hope Honda has some in parts (although the parts manager doug had no idea of what I was asking for).
Thanks again (I may have to be hard wired today.

Re: Help - how to attach brake controller?

Stopped by dealer--they showed me the pigtail--I never got one! well that explains why I couldn't figure it out. At least I got one of the them.
Even made it home OK--my first ever tow.
RL was fine.
