Was the issue stated in the TSB (delayed upshift into 4th gear) a symptom noticed before the "fix"? And has it happened since?
Or, was the TSB done to take advantage of the other "enhancements" that some of us have noticed?
I don't want to divert BillB's main purpose of the thread... "Miles per Gallon Effects". I just think that this added info would form a good base in assessing the respondents' mpg findings/differences/expectations.

I personally don't expect my mpg to increase, and I'm going to try another "little experiment" with higher octane gas with my next tankful.

So, I'll have to "bow-out" from posting any findings I get for awhile, as my results might be "skewed".

Look, there is no "magic" here...I had the TSB performed because it sporadically "hung" in 4th. Usually it did this on the interstate when I had been going up a long hill and then leveled out. Was it bad? No. Did it happen all the time? No. Could I have lived with it? Yes. Am I glad I got the TSB done? Yes. Now, other observations associated with this TSB.
My truck now shifts "crisper" than before. That is it. No change in horsepower, no change in torque and no change in the shift points. It just shifts smooth and crisp. If you keep your foot in it, of course you will get worse gas milage. If you drive as you did before, you will get the same gas milage, or at least I am. Due to the different shifting feel, I, at the beginning, "hot rodded" it a bit because it did feel different. The last 300 miles or so though I drove it as always and now the "new" has gone away. It was fun to drive before and it is still fun to drive now. My thoughts and opinions.

Finally! I see that you noticed "the hang" while coming across the crest of a hill. That's where I was when I got mine to "react". I thought I'd never hear it from someone else, but that's exactly the same as how I forced my tranny to exhibit the slow transition into 4th.
Are you listening, hurleyint04?

Looks like hiPSI and I share the same kinda roads.

Ummmm... not that this means anything, and it could be an aberation, but I just got home from work after taking a little detour to the grocery store and bank (about a 20 trip) and I pulled into the drive with 18.5mpg showing on the "current trip mpg" display of my ScanGauge. Talk about "skewed". Actually it had reset from the grocery store and I went thru the ATM drivethru on the way home. Weird. I normally see around 15mpg when I make that trip. Maybe the RL's flux capacitor finally kicked-in, as I just passed 4500 miles on the odometer...

Lest we forget, we are now getting the winter mix of gas that will result in less fuel economy.
Where I live, the winter mix with ethanol is used all year long. I think my "slight" loss of mpg is related to the "hot rodding" effect of having too much fun right after the TSB was done. Next tank of gas will tell me if this was true as I have returned to normal, alomst hot rodding style driving. At least I had a week of risking getting speeding tickets all over town.

You sure you didn't install a vortex generator?

Re: Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

I called my dealer today to schedule some work and explained that I had a dead spot when going up a hill and over a railroad track, went to give it gas and nothing then all of a sudden it responded. I aslo explained that between 1st and 2nd there seems to be a hesitation as well as getting hung up in between 4th and 5th when passing. I asked if he had heard of any issues with the trans and he said he had not . I also have the problem with vibration in the drivers side speaker. Is there a TSB for this and if so what is the number? Another rattle I have is in the drivers door, if I put pressure between the drivers seat and the door panel the vibration stops even though the vibration sounds like it is coming from the top left corner of the drivers side window. Has anyone had this vivration? In looking at thr TSB thread that is closed it does not mention the trans TSB # 06-062?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You can check out this thread..there is a downloadable file that has all TSB's in post 16,
including the Transmission TSB. Hope this helps.

I printed the 06-062 TSB out and gave it to the service dept, because like you, I asked if they knew about it...and they said they hadn't heard anything about it..The service writer was surprised that I knew about it, and had it printed out before he did.

Re: Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

www.navhelp.com/tsb.zip

Roadstar, go to the above for a list of all Ridgeline related TSBs. One of our members, Paulmooney, has been kind enough to keep this current. It is a Zip file, so if you do not have the software, use the Evaluation version to read all the problems that Honda will fix for free on your truck. By the way, the rattle problems you describe have not been acknowledged by Honda as official "fix for free", but you really need to find a dealer that has a better knowledge base of what is going on with the Ridgeline because most larger shops will certainly know of thei Transmission TSB that has just been recently issued.

The mechanic DID say something about a "vornado"... or was that the Kirby salesman that left the set of kitchen knives for me? I don't know... it's all becoming a blur, anymore. But I think things are getting better as they're improving, or did I just HEAR that they are?

Thumbs up Re: Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

Read 'em and weep, naysayers:

Mileage: 317

Pre-TSB mpg: 16 to 17
Post-TSB mpg: 19

No winter blend here. Mostly AC on.

Road type: 67% urban stop and go - 50 mph speed limit
33% Interstate - 75 mph avg. including 10 minutes or so idling in stop and go

Driving style Aggressive, mid to heavy foot.

Opinion: Performance improved, TSB worthwhile.

May be a little off as the dealer filled my tank last time and probably did not pack it. Time will tell.
Mad as Hell that gas prices are rising due to refinery shutdowns. Did manage to get $1.989 less 15-cents per gallon at Kroger, though. Raised price to $2.079 shortly thereafter to match Wally-World across the street.

Not just hearsay Pug. After a lifetime of tracking the phenomenon, I have found it to be true in all cases. Just one of life's little mysteries.
