Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

Now that quite a few of us have had the Tranny TSB done and there is a lot of unanswered questions about the effect on MPG, let this thread start a discussion of how it affected your gas consumption. Since we drive on different road conditions and differently in style, it is also important to give these variables along with the pure MPG readings after at least 1 full tank of pure post TSB use.

Mileage: 295

Pre-TSB mpg: 16.5 to 17
Post-TSB mpg: 16.0

Road type: 90% urban stop and go - 40 mph speed limit
10% Interstate - 55 mph speed limit

Driving style Aggressive, mid to heavy foot.

Opinion: Performance improved, TSB worthwhile.

Lest we forget, we are now getting the winter mix of gas that will result in less fuel economy.

Comparing your driving habits and my driving habits to come to some sort of milage per gallon/liter conclusion is like comparing elephants to hummingbirds.

Can't be done.

I don't think BillB wants a comparison of "your mpg to his mpg".
I think he's wanting to show a comparison of "pre-TSB" to "post-TSB" mpg.

As long as our own driving styles, road conditions, and other things remain constant (as far as our own analysis is concerned), they shouldn't matter when comparing the results.

After I get another fill-up, I'll report any differences I note.

I think it might be a good idea for the respondents to include their reasons for having the update done i the first place.
Was the issue stated in the TSB (delayed upshift into 4th gear) a symptom noticed before the "fix"? And has it happened since?
Or, was the TSB done to take advantage of the other "enhancements" that some of us have noticed?
I don't want to divert BillB's main purpose of the thread... "Miles per Gallon Effects". I just think that this added info would form a good base in assessing the respondents' mpg findings/differences/expectations.

I personally don't expect my mpg to increase, and I'm going to try another "little experiment" with higher octane gas with my next tankful.

So, I'll have to "bow-out" from posting any findings I get for awhile, as my results might be "skewed".

Re: Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

I've put over 700 miles on my Ridgeline since the trans TSB was done. The only difference I have seen is smoother shifts. Gas mileage, performance, etc. is about the same as before the upgrade. Before the upgrade I would feel the truck kind of lag, like it wanted to shift into 4th, but took a while to actually shift, unless hard on the accelerator. Now it seems to shift like it should without the lag.

I feel pretty safe proclaiming my MPG hasn't decreased post update and I know she's more fun to drive.

Re: Post Tranny TSB - MPG effects

Compared to a 39,000 mile average of 19.98, the first tank after the software update gave me 19.6 mpg.

Pug, say it ain't so! Because I live miles from a dealer, scheduling service is a deal. This Sat. I'll drive the 50 miles to have work done. The SM offered to do the TSB then if I want. I really need the advise.
