Stalling

I purchased an 07 Ridgeline last August. Love my truck, however I've noticed that when going over speed bumps slowly it feels as if the engine is going to cut off. anyone else with this problem??

Go slower

No really, slow down a little more. The resulting wheel hop over the speed bump causes the VSA to kick in retarding the throttle and applying the break(s) to the spinning wheel(s). Going slower will also reduce wear and tear on the suspension components over the life of your truck.

Re: Stalling

Agree with MikeT. I have noticed even when going slow, angle of contact with the bump (straight on, slightly angled...) makes a difference. There is one in our parking lot at work that pretty much forces you to take it at an angle and it will kick in the VSA pretty easily.

Re: Stalling

One thing I noticed on my new 2008 RTS versus my original 2006 RTS is the stalling over the bump sensation is greatly reduced in effect. Honda has "gentled" this sensation up on the newer trucks and this is not my imagination, but rather a distinct difference in the programming of this engine cut feature during a wheel losing contact with surface event.

Re: Stalling

Thank you for everyones response. I will take your advise. I wasn't aware that the VSA was the cause.

Bill, I found this out while jumping a multiple railroad crossing as the gates were rapidly closing. The resulting stall was enough to scare the **** out of me! Thinking back, I now realize how stupid an action that was and all due to my being 5 minutes late at a site meeting!
