Re: Wind noise TSB

I am assuming he means sit in the truck and have someone else hit the outside with the blower?

Re: Wind noise TSB

No, I meant stand outside with it. One person job. At least with the Stihl blower, it's quiet enough (65db(A)) to find the source of the noise. Remember a noise is going to be much louder outside the vehicle then it is inside as you are driving down the road. The vehicle itself is insulated, and there are other road noises to contend with.

Re: Wind noise TSB

Mine still has the whistle after having the windshield replaced. Seems as if the whistle is temperature sensitive, as I did not hear it at all during the winter but, as soon as the temps have started warming up, I hear it constantly now. If I am going less than 35 MPH or faster than 70, I can't hear it...but between 35 and 70 I can hear it.

Smile Re: Wind noise TSB

I read a lot of the posts talking about windshield noise an rattles. But I have made one important (at least to me) observation since buying my Ridge. The fit and finish on the truck, in general, is not up to Honda standards. In some areas like the dash, I have seen Fords with a better fit on the seams, around the guages, and the center consol is just cheap looking. This is my first ever Honda, and all the ones my friends drive (cars) are really well put togther. I had a 2004 Toyota "Taco" and even though it was 4 years old, the dash, the trim, the windshield, the body seams, all of it seemed to be a grade above the Ridge. Not really complaining, just noticing. My wife drives an 07 Toyota Highlander and that thing is really nice on the fit an finish in the cabin and the body. I also noticed on the Ridge pieces of tape on the lower edge of the front bumper. I had to crawl under it to get a good look, and it looked all the world like they factory had taped paper under the body to stop overspray, and then just pulled the paper off leaving silver painted tape. When I pulled the tape off,the black plastic color of he bumper was visible in the shape of the piece of tape, right down to the serrated ends like it was pulled off a tape machine.

Anybody else notice things like this? Do you long-time Honda drivers notice a difference in the cars and the Ridge? Is Canada somehow involved :>)

I am gonna print that out and do some of the "tests", like they do in the TSB with a credit card, and see if my truck "passes". If not, I am gonna ask for them to fix it right this time.

Re: Wind noise TSB

OK...I printed out the TSB and went and checked my windshield and, all I can say is...well, the techs at my dealership either can't read or they did not follow the instructions when re-installing my windshield.

First of all, there is an obvious gap, between the seal and the sheet metal of the roof at the upper corners of both sides of the windshield, which the TSB instructions clearly show should NOT be there. Second, the seal at the top of the windshield is not even with the roof like the TSB shows it should be. Long story short, the reinstall was done not done correctly so I still have the whistle.

This really ticks me off...

Now, my question to you fellow ROC'ers, how do you think I should proceed? My RL is out of warranty. I'm thinking I should go into my dealership, show the TSB to my service rep, show him the gaps at the top of the windshield, and request that they reinstall the windshield, as it was not reinstalled correctly the last time they did it. I think it should be done/covered under the "good faith" repair language section of the TSB. If they balk at that, I will ask for the region manager's phone number, and tell them I will address the issue with him.

Good approach or not....?

Was the first attempt at the TSB repair done while you were still in warrenty? If so, until it is fixed to spec, you should consider yoursely still in warrenty. Never give up, talk plain and polite and use the power of the "moving up the corporate ladder" until you find the people who actually care the consumer is satisfied. Unfortunately, you will likely have to go beyond the dealer to find this person.
