Trailer Hitch Harness Recall

Yipee, My local dealer just found me one and is gonna have it later today. I will get it tomorrow am. It is the 101 version

Just picked up my harness kit and it was a 100B . Parts guy now tells me that that supersedes the 101. I am so confused. I put the rear harness on and the Drawtite hitch that came yesterday to check the fit. I was not happy with the condition it arrived in , all scarred up and not wrapped in any plastic or protective covering. Even the decal with the load was not legible. I called the dealer and he is going to order another one and see what shape it is in. The interior harness stuff will get done another day. It did have the 3 relays included , so that sounds promising!!!!!

Very confusing since Honda Customer Service said on Tuesday to me that a 102 harness is being released...

I dont understand how the 100b supercedes the 101???? They need to get their stories straight.

The install docs originally had 100b, then I beleive they were updated to 101, now some parts guys are saying 100b supercedes the 101...hmmmm

All I know is that there were 3 rel;ays in the kit and the shift indicator appears to be working with the colors being correct. I have NOT had a trailser connected to it yet as I just finished the inside connections about 15 minutes ago. Oddly enough the HITCH that I just bought yesterday was a 102............................................:ee k:

What are the correct shift indicator colors?

I'm seeing P=RED R=GREEN N=RED D's = GREEN.

I have an early truck and early hitch harness.

As per what I read those are correct... I assume that you do not need a trailer connected to have this work . I have to check the center pin to see if I have 12volts there when I get home tomorrow.

After speaking with two dealerships and Honda customer service so far this week, I received this info faxed to me by one of the dealerships - the other dealership and Honda customer service still don't seem to know anything about it. I wasn't able to get it scanned into a file size small enough to post but yet still readable (I'm sure there's a way if someone would like to share how) so I've typed it out to the best of my ability below - don't hold me responsible for typos or misinterpretations as it was hard to read in places. Also note that they say P & R are both red but R is actually green (on my truck anyway). Also they marked out the D/N info (dealer cost???) and marked that the S/R is now $171.00 instead of $169.00.

When the accessory trailer hitch harness kit (P/N 08L91-SJC-101) is installed on Ridgelines produced after August 24, 2005, both the P and the R shift position indicators illuminate in red when the vehicle is in Park and the ignition switch is in the ACC (I) position. This condition does not occur when the ignition switch is in the ON (II) position.

The accessory trailer hitch harness kit listed below includes a new control unit harness that corrects this condition. All recent backorders for the trailer hitch harness kit have been filled with this new, updated harness kit. And this kit will be included in all applicable accessory packages.

So instead of going to P/N 08L91-SJC-102, Honda decides to go backward to a 100b P/N

Thats interseting because when I spoke with them yesterday, they said a new P/N 08L91-SJC-102 is being issued. In fact the dealer also confirmed that P/N is valid but not available yet....

This is sooooo confusing. I just returned a P/N 08L91-SJC-100b kit because they said that was the old P/N.

I never heard the 'B' version mentioned until a week or two ago. The original harness for pre 8/24/2005 builds was 08L91-SJC-100 (no B) and then the 08L91-SJC-101 for post 8/24/2005 builds. Maybe 08L91-SJC-102 is already assigned to an existing part??? Sure would be a lot clearer to use the 102 # if it's not though instead of appending an old number with a B.
Anyway, I faxed the info I obtained from the one dealer to the other so maybe I'll hear back from them tomorrow and I'm going to call Honda again and see if ID# AIN32211 means anything to them as I didn't have this info when I first called them.

Riley, I have the 100B installed as of yesterday and ALL is well,even the shift indicator lights! The hitch had a 102 p/n but the harness was 100 B.
Hope this clears all up and maybe this should be sticky???
