Trailer Hitch Harness Recall

Does anyone know anything about a recall by Honda of the trailer hitch wiring harnesses? My dealer is telling me they don't know when they can get the harness and Honda will not give them an ETA. So I have the trailer hitch installed on my new Ridgeline, but no wiring harness

BTW the vehicle is only three weeks old so I have never had the harness installed. Also, this really sucks because I need to pull a trailer this weekend since I am moving.

After Honda approved the repair to my wiring harness to rectify the no power to the reverse light pin a few days ago, my dealer service manager called back to say that he had tried ordering the parts required and that currently there is a "stop sell" on the harness. He didn't know what the issue was either. He said he placed an "urgent" on the order and expected to receive the part sometime in mid-March. I'm not sure how he arrived at the ship date. Maybe they are revising the harness to facilitate retrofitting the pre-8/24/05 RLs with tow packages?

No, my trailer does not have reverse lights. However, power to the reverse light is necessary if you tow a trailer with disc surge brakes. Since disc brakes, unlike drum brakes, work equally well in either direction, there is a solenoid that locks them out when reversing. I use both connectors depending on which trailer I am towing.

I had a recall on my 05 Element - unsure if the harness is related in any way. BUT, now I'm a happy 3 day owner of my Silver Ridge. (Not that I was unhappy with the Ele - very user friendly vehicle)

I was going to get the trailer hitch and all from Honda - wonder if the stock ones are in question?

The answer depends on the manufacturing date of your RL and which harness kit you have.
If your production date is prior to 8/24/05 and you want all 7 pins of the 7-pin connector to work, I you should wait as I'm not sure what it is going to take to retrofit these trucks.
If your production date is 8/24/05 and later and the harness instructions show different procedures for each side of that production date, you should be good to go.
If your production date is 8/24/05 and later and the harness instructions show only one procedure regardless of build date, you do not have the proper harness kit.
