Four Seasons Wrap-up: 2006 Honda Ridgeline [03.07]

Quote:
So this is how it went for the Honda Ridgeline, from the moment it entered our lives until the day it left, one year later:

Logbook Entry #1 November 29, 2005: On the Ridgeline's first day with us, I drove it straight from the office to a friend's apartment to help move his bed to his new condo across town. A double box spring and mattress fit lengthwise in the bed with the tailgate down. I also folded up the rear seats and we stashed four wheels and summer tires from his Mazda 3 hatchback.

In the next month alone, the Ridgeline's five-foot cargo bed and commodious 8.5-cubic-foot underbed trunk saw groceries, more tires, luggage, a (fake) Christmas tree, cross-country skis, a futon, a Polaris ATV, a 48-quart cooler, and hunting gear--not to mention what wasn't listed in the logbook. That was one month. It went on to carry hundreds of grocery bags, one load of sixteen tires, a La-Z-Boy recliner, thirty cans of paint, three sets of wheels and tires with a jack and two toolboxes, a queen-size mattress and box spring along with a bookshelf and card tables, chairs, lamps, a fridge, coolers, dog crates, more luggage, three mountain bikes, and thirteen bags of mulch.

It's no surprise that we hauled a lot of crap over the course of twelve months. The Ridgeline is a pickup truck. But it was more handy than your average box on wheels.

I think this link works

Four Seasons Wrap-up: 2006 Honda Ridgeline

They sure liked a lot of things about the Ridgeline!! But I wish people would stop whining about the Ridgeline's looks. I think it looks fine.

Without commingling. Associate art director Nicole Lazarus made the observation that, from a design standpoint, the bold but not macho interior "welcomes a man or a woman equally." We would add that the bold but pretty darn unattractive exterior, however, repulsed men and women equally.

I prefer something that doesn't look like every other truck on the road. The Ridgeline excels in that area. Oh yeah, those so called ugly looks account for one of the best riding trucks available. I'll take that over looks any day of the week.

I absolutely agree - I find the truck absolutely repulsive........ can't believe I let my boyfriend talk me into buying the ungodly thing.

Same here. Wife and I both thought the truck is ugly. She still does, but only the front and interior bother me now. The weird slopes from the side and rear view have crossed into "so ugly, it's cute" to me.

However, we both continuously marvel how useful this thing is. Rides quite nicely as well. That's ultimately more useful to us than how good it looks.

Sorry to buck the trend but I loved the looks from the very first commercial. Now those that don't like the looks, I'm interested in what you do like...

I don't deny that it's different but I think it's far from ugly...

I'm with you Brich. This thing is dead sexy to me.

Re: Four Seasons Wrap-up: 2006 Honda Ridgeline [03.07]

After a year of ownership, the design still pleases me as the day that I originally drove it.

For me it wasn't the looks of the Ridgeline that won me over, it was the accoutrements that no other truck in any price range offered.

The design is unique, but not stellar, nor is it awful. The design stands out as original, yet blends in to the vehicular landscape.
