Re: Ridgeline Awards

Hey I've got one for you, Ridge...

Autoweb.com had an article that said the Ridgeline is "the perfect tailgaters" vehicle and had it as part of their Top Ten Tailgaters. I don't think they actually ranked them 1-10, though. (OK, I found it!)

http://www.autoweb.com/content/share...cle_id_int/800

"The cool quotient: Many things are cool about this new truck from Honda, starting with the exterior design. Yes, it’s different, and kinda weird – but that’s a good thing, especially when everyone else is driving a Chevy. Best of all, the bed has a sealed trunk under the floor, easy to get to and perfect to stow your refreshments.
Passenger capacity: Seats five, plus at least three Patriot/Dolphin fans in the aforementioned in-bed trunk area.
Cargo space: Up to 41.4 cu. ft. with the second - row seat folded.
Sound system: A 100-watt AM/FM/CD stereo with six speakers is standard, or you can step up to a 160- watt system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer with seven speakers, including a subwoofer. Also available is XM satellite radio, an MP3 auxiliary jack and Honda’s DVD Entertainment System – so little Mary can watch Sleeping Beauty while you’re playing a game of catch or swilling down a brew.
Practicality: Look up practical in the dictionary, and there it is – a Ridgeline, smiling at you with its multi-use tailgate that can swing out or down, a tough composite bedliner, and that wonderful in-bed trunk – for soda pop and such.
Extras: Front and rear seating areas have 12-volt outlets and the rearview mirrors fold in, a nice bit of protection in a crowded parking lot. Perhaps best of all, the Ridgeline is pre-wired to tow a trailer. And if you’re really into the tailgating life, you have a trailer – and, thus, should drive the perfect tailgater’s car."

Wink Re: Ridgeline Awards

One award you might not be aware of:

Ridgeline Wins Society of Plastic Engineers 2005 Grand Award
NOV. 21 - At the annual Automotive Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) 2005 Innovation Awards Program, held November 16, Honda was awarded the evening's highest honor - the Grand Award - for the Ridgeline's Composite In-Bed Trunk. This is the first time in the 35-year history of the awards that Honda has received SPE's highest honor.

The Grand Award, which represents the most innovative of the year's nominations, is determined by a blue ribbon panel of 19 judges, comprised of specialists from throughout the automotive industry.

HRA representatives Kevin Thelen, Mike Ishmael, Jason Rumninski, Jim Ryan and David Edwards were present on the 16th to accept the award.

Earlier in the evening, the Ridgeline had also won the award in the Body Exterior Category for its Composite In-Bed Trunk.

"We are working closely with our local suppliers to create innovative and highly competitive products," said David Iida, Corporate Spokesperson, Honda North America, Inc. "Winning the SPE Grand Award is a tribute to the work of our associates and the suppliers involved in the development of the Composite In-Bed Trunk."

The suppliers for the Composite In-Bed Trunk's development are:

System Supplier: Meridian Automotive Systems
Material Processor: Meridian Automotive Systems
Tooling Supplier: Century/Global Tooling Systems
Material Supplier: Meridian/Ashland
Resin: SMC

About SPE
The mission of SPE International is to promote scientific and engineering knowledge relating to plastics worldwide and to educate industry, academia and the public about these advances. SPE's Automotive Division is active in educating, promoting, recognizing and communicating technical accomplishments for all phases of plastics and plastic-based composite developments in the global transportation industry. Topic areas include applications, materials, processing, equipment, tooling, design and development.

Re: Ridgeline Awards

[quote=Ridge]OK someone put together all these awards in one post so I can easily copy and paste them in domestic forums to torment them.

I just posted these on my old Mercedes Benz forum on a thread about the auto show / it being truck of the year, and a post about how it was the worst choice ever to be truck of the year.

Thanks, I can't get every where, the web is a big place. I'm trying though.

It's actually tattooed on my chest. I find that the tight spandex suit doesn't show all the ripples in my abs and chest.

Re: Ridgeline Awards

The "other" forums must be thinking Honda spent millions and millions to "buy" all these awards.
