PaddockTalk Review [6.10.6]

Quote:
When I first saw the Ridgeline at the 2005 auto show I was very impressed and surprised at its size – after all this is a Honda, a company renowned for making small to average sized cars that sip gas instead of guzzling it. Honda was definitely taking aim at the pick-up market, but in their typical unique way. The Ridgeline was designed to give the public a different option when it came to buying a pick up truck, and in so doing it comes with 4-WD as standard, and it also has 4-doors with no 2-door option at all.

The pick-up bed is different too. Not only does the tailgate drop down like a traditional one, but also there's the option of being able to open it like a traditional door (remember the station wagons of old where people had a choice of how to open the rear door?). Upon opening the tailgate there’s a huge lockable "In-Bed Trunk" (with a capacity of 60 gallons/240.7 litres) that can be used to store wet items or a couple of beer kegs. Genius! There’s a plug in the bottom if you feel like using it as a mini swimming pool - hey, that’s not a bad idea! Why hasn’t anyone else thought of that? The spare tire is also in the floor of the bed, up near the cabin out of the way of road grime, and doesn’t take up any space within the bed itself. The pick-up bed is covered in a rubberized type product, so there’s no fear of slipping or damaging the box, but it can be scratched. There are plenty of hooks and tie-down rings around the bed for keeping items inside its confines. The tailgate can be locked using a button in the glove box.

Hooks and tie-down rings? What exactly are those? Is he talking about the 6 tie-downs?

Also...tailgate can be locked using a botton in the glove box? Since when?

Oh, and the same ol' schpeel about the price being several thousands more than the Explorer Sport Trac when similarly equipped. Which, as we all know, it a bunch of bunk. Put all the same stuff on a ST, it's about the same price, maybe a little more.

Anyway, overall a good article, but nothing that hasn't be said before.

Re: PaddockTalk Review [6.10.6]

Well, after reading all these posts and asking questions, I finally bought a 2008 Steel Blue Ridge w/navi. I am really happy I finally made a decision. I will probably add a flat sidestep (black) and take my time from there. What are some cool additions that can be put on the steel blue? Anyway, I'm happy with it. I bought itThurs night.
