I worked all day, but I found for $79.00 at Best Buy the Harmon Karden Drive & Play Ipod system. Normally $149.00.

Needed a hard drive for my computer and media center. Found a great deal at Newegg.com. bought 4 hard drive @ 500gb Seagate SATA 3.0g for $149.00. Would like to have bought another two, but the only ones left are EIDE for the same size and price.

Re: SHopping!!! What was your best deal today??

I got a 32" LCD flatscreen TV for $369 at Microcenter in Cincinnati. It was the best price in town by $100.

Microcenter was one of the retailers who opened up at 6 am on Friday. I got to the store with my brother at 4:45 am thinking I would pull up and be one of the first people there to stand in line given that most people would be at Circuit City/Best Buy and the other big box retailers. I figured we would get to play about a half hour of XBox in the RL and then stand in line casually. Traffic was very light in getting there so felt pretty good about my time schedule in getting there an hour early until I hit the exit ramp for the store.

Boy was I ever wrong. The exit ramp that you get off of to get to the store literally dumps right into their parking lot. As soon as I hit the end of the ramp, I knew my quest for the $199 laptop deal was done. To my dismay, the parking lot was about 80% full and there were already 250-300 people in line at 4.45 in the morning!!

I jumped out and got into line and by the time they opened there were at least 500 people in line after me. I have to guess that another couple hundred saw the line and drove off. I left my house at 4.15 and got back home from that one store at 8.30am. Was it worth it? Yessiree and I met a couple of very nice people.

BTW - They had 90 32" LCD's in stock. (There were only 10 $200 laptops.) They gave out vouchers in line before they opened so that there wouldn't be a stampede when they opened. I got voucher #82 and my brother got #83 for the 32" LCD TV. Had we been 5 minutes later, we would have been out of luck.

95% of our Christmas shopping was done in October .... Best deal of the day for me was sleeping in, avoiding the Malls all together and a 60 degree November day in New England where I spent 4 hours hand washing my Ridgeline and getting her back to showroom condition...

It was 30 degrees when I was standing in line but it was 65 degrees at 2 pm which was my tee time. Still not a bad day if you ask me.

Re: Shopping!!! What was your best deal today??

Same here... the best deal for me is when my family leaves the night before and they do the shopping marathon while I "bach" it around the house. It's a tradition now and hopefully one that won't go away. I don't mind shopping, but I can't tolerate huge crowds when trying to buy something I can either buy before the rush or after it dies down.

Re: Shopping!!! What was your best deal today??

I asked family to drive by Best Buy on their way home from the feast and at 1am they called and said the line was around 3 sides of the building which also includes a large Book store. So, I'm guessing 900 feet of line. I slept in.

Last year I arrived at 11am and they still had most of what I wanted. This year the only thing that caught my eye was the Westinghouse LCM-22w2. A 22 inch wides screen monitor for $199 (instant discount NO REBATES - I detest rebates).

I got to the store at 10 pm Fri and it only modestly busy. As I expected they were all gone and they would not sell the display unit. I asked a second person and she offered to look at stock in other stores. No luck there and she told me I had just missed the last one. She said they found it hidden in a stove in the appliance section a few minutes ago and was snapped up instantly.

While walking around I bumped into the guy that had it and told him I heard the story about how it was found hidden and congratulated him. About half an hour later he bumped into me and said "hey are you still looking for a monitor". Bottom line is he decided against buying it and went looking for me. Nice guy.

BTW the monitor is very nice. Sure beats the 17 inch CRT that came with the E-Machine I bought last Black Friday.
