Father-in-Law, UGH!

The wife and I replaced her car earlier this year. We decided to give her old car to her dad. The old car ran fine and looked really good for its age. If nothing else it's in much better shape than the car he had and frankly we didn't trust its reliability.

Well, we went to visit them yesterday. I pulled into their driveway and because of sun glare and rear window tint, I couldn't see my FIL sitting behind the wheel of my old car. I stopped the Ridge, got out and opened the rear door to get out something we were dropping off to them. While I'm retreiving it, BANG! The old coot backed into the front of my Ridge.

My Ridge was hit by my own car! I guess it's true, "No good deed goes unpunished"!

Bad news, sorry to hear about the problem. Look on the positive side, you or someone else could have been walking between the 2 vehicles!!

That really sucks. Sorry about that.

1. How old is he?
2. Here in PA, don't older people have to retake driving tests every couple years?

Re: Father-in-Law, UGH!

To answer some of the questions from above.

There isn't much damage. There is a skuff on the bumper cover that I may be able to buff out. The license plate holder is deformed and has been pushed into the bumper cover. Once I replace the holder you may not even notice the damage to the cover.

The newly installed Custom Made Ridgeline License Plate is toast. It was made from a brittle acrylic material that cracked in a few places. It will need to be replaced.

He is 82, not in the best of health. I don't know if he needs to be retested in Pa. I know his drivers license was recently renewed and he didn't need to be retested then.

Yes, it could have been much worse. Luckily, my wife was able to reach over and blast the horn before he hit minimizing the amount of damage.

Webbie, I think only you and I know who Joe Btfsplk is!
