Exclamation Need Computer help!!!!!!

I have a project with a very short deadline due at work...I am trying to make up an informative video to play in our lobby at work...we did the taping earlier this week on a JVC HDD video camera. Apparently the video camera saves the information in a file called "movie clip" in what I thought was mpeg format. The video software I was planning on using to edit the video is Window's Movie Maker, as it is the only one I have on my computer, but unfortunatly this software doesn't seem to recognize this format. I need help in identifying a way to change the format into another format that Movie Maker will recognize. Please help!!!!

Thanks

Re: Need Computer help!!!!!!

You'll need to get a converter to convert the movie to one supported by Movie Maker. There are several free ones on the web. One good one I've used is called SUPER:
SUPER © .

Is there a firewire port on the camera AND your computer? If so you can connect it to the computer and run it in real time (it will preserve the digital quality) into Movie Maker... This will also let you specifically pick which segments you want... With this setup, you run the camera with the computer... By the way, no drivers necessary

Re: Need Computer help!!!!!!

hmm, I don't know what a firewire port is, so I would have to say that I don't think there is one on the camera AND my computer. Thanks, for the link I will try that and see if it works.

It's a tiny port about the size of a cable lock opening on a laptop... It's rectangular but closer to square and round on the bottom..

What model JVC is it?

Nope, I don't have one. My computer is a Toshiba, the camera is a JVC Everio HDD

Re: Need Computer help!!!!!!

it also records in mpeg-2..... there should be no issues... If you connected it to a computer via USB, you may have downloaded the wrong file....
