Do you use cell phone GPS navigation?

Are any of you using cell phone GPS navigation?

I just watched our local news and they were talking about a new feature that cell phone companies are rolling out, GPS navigation via your cell phone.

So far they said that Verizon, Sprint and Nextel are offering the service for about $10 a month. My cell phone is with Alltel, so I don't have it.

Here http://kltv.com/global/category.asp?c=61455 is where you can see a video on the subject by clicking on 7 On Your Side: GPS Cell Phones

I think this is a great idea, but I am not too sure how the little screen on a cell phone is going to do for displaying.

Re: Do you use cell phone GPS navigation?

yes, i've tried using my nextel before for gps navigation and it works great, but now that i have switched to a different provider. i may have to find another way in case i get lost. GPS phones must have java software installed to use, other than that, you're good to go. Check your provider if your phone or service will allow you to use GPS navigation.

Re: Do you use cell phone GPS navigation?

sort of.I use my cell phone to call my wife and get directions. She knows where evrything is at and how to get to it. Even out of state. This is no joke.I dont know how she knows. She must be some kind of navigational cyborg or something.

I have the Verizon v325 with the nav system it works great and also uses voice commands. It costs 9.99 per month or 2.99 for 24 hours.

Re: Do you use cell phone GPS navigation?

I see that my cell phone company, Alltel, is STILL not offering the GPS Navigation yet, but I know when they do I will get it. I think that is so cool to be able to let your cell phone double as a GPS Navigational system.

Well....... I thought that the GPS feature told the phone where you are and it would make the changes for you. Are you saying there is more to it than that?????

A friend has Nextel and it has no idea where you are unless you keep telling it.

That is wild. If I knew where I was, then I would not need the GPS! I guess I won't be swapping to Nextel anytime soon.

Re: Do you use cell phone GPS navigation?

please.. dont jink me. I went long today on GRMN today after its 15% haircut. The portable market is growing with hikers, joggers, and hunters. The auto segment has just started. I would have to upgrade my phone(Again), or buy a more user friendly/larger screen portable GPU. Either way, awesome tech.
