Re: Perpetual Price Thread

Thanks, NM, I'm just trying to understand all this stuff!

This isn't something I do every day, thank goodness...

Re: Perpetual Price Thread

thanks for the info, malarkey, ive been lurking since last summer and waiting for the incentives to come back.the dealer claims the cash incentive is 1500 in ny. he also says its an either/or situation with the cash or financing. if anyone else has been shopping or buying in rochester,ny or upstate, i'd appreciate what you got yours for, or quotes that you got.

Thumbs up Re: Perpetual Price Thread

Hey folks-

My two cents...I bought my '07 Aberdeen Green RTL w/nav with running boards and roof-rack from Schaefer and Strominger in Bel Air, Md and paid just over $34K from soup to nuts (i.e, tax and tags)...they're Internet manager is wonderful to work with and I was in and out of the dealership in about an hour...my wife and I agreed it was the best car buying experience we ever had...I've also bought an '03 Accord from them with a similar positive experience...

Re: Perpetual Price Thread

Congrats on the purchase, Bobcat. I got my RTL over the internet as well and it was the easiest vehicle that I ever bought. It's a great way to quickly shop around for the vehicle that you want.

Thanks for the help, took the plunge today -- Silver RTS (no extras at all) for $26,511. That's before tax and title. Walked away paying $27,830.

This board, carbuyingtips.com and fightingchance.com helped a lot -- I didn't do the "FAX attack" that fightingchance talks about, but it's hard in this area to hit more than eight dealers within a three hour drive. I got a "warm and fuzzy" from this thread that I was in the ballpark and jumped.

Thanks everyone!

Ps. kk29, I know that we're far apart, but I hope this price helps your negotiating!

PPs. The car literally rolled off the truck while I was at the dealer (they only had a White RTS in stock when I arrived -- got to look at the silver with the paper all over the outside still). The dealer always installs some kind of security device which I didn't want, so the salesman put a big sign inside on the window saying "no security device" so I'll get virgin wiring behind the dash (that "octopus behind the dash" story was pretty scary... Look at the Octopus I found under my dash.).

Sounds like you hit a home-run. Did you use any of the information in this thread to negotiate with? You are so close to my estimate it's giving me chills. BTW what prices did carbuyingtips.com and fightingchance.com give you? Were they above or below mine? I know that Edmund's today is quoting $29,450 in Colorado for an RTS as their "what other people are paying" price. Pity the poor souls that use Edmund's.com as their negotiating guide.

Yes, not to tell the salesman "well this board says..." but to know that I was getting a decent deal and make an offer with confidence. The last step in the negotiations was "drop the dealer handling and you'll have cash by the end of business today" and they accepted. Could I have done better? Maybe if I had waited and found a very hungry dealer at the end of the month, but that's a "maybe" and at some point you have to be willing to pay for a sure thing versus a "maybe".

A couple replies back I posted carbuyingtips.com's basic computation for the RTS price:

$27266 invoice - $926 holdback - $1500 incentive = $24,840

5% profit = $1242

$24,840 + $1242 + $595 destination = $26,677
So I came in a whopping $166 under that

fightingchance doesn’t really nail down a "best price" because there's so much variations by region, but offers some excellent negotiation and more importantly timing techniques. Interestingly enough I didn’t use fightingchance nearly as much as I could have, yet I still recommend it to anyone but the most seasoned car buyer and haggler. I was neither, and fightingchance gave me a third data point (the other two being carbuyingtips and this board) that allowed me to be happy with the final purchase price I offered (in other words I consider the $35 money well spent). I want to thank you personally for your information, it weighed heavily in my decision!

In general I want to thank all the contributors to the board for helping me with my Ridgeline purchase, as well as all the accessory purchasing that I'm in the midst of!

Roak

Ps. No dealer security device was installed, per my request -- an advantage of buying it when it was still wrapped from shipping!

Re: Perpetual Price Thread

Hey it's nice to see this thread run wild. To add to the mix, we just picked up our 06 RTS on the 30th of last month for 25.2K, including a tow hitch before tax. The dealer was great to work with and now we are ROLLIN! Great truck, now the only problem is that my girlfriend and I can't drive it at the same time! Good luck to all of you still in the buying process. A little bit of research and time could save to $$.

Re: Perpetual Price Thread

I too am a champion of Fighting Chance and used their "fax attack" this week. Sent faxes to 40 dealers and got 10 solid replies (and several disgruntled attempts to bypass the process and engage me in the usual haggling). Wound up buying from the dealer where I first saw the Ridgeline and although he didn't have the absolute lowest price I was willing to pay a bit more (less than $300) from a really top-notch local dealer (multiple winner of the Honda President's Award) who extends the non-Powertrain warranty from 36 months/36,000 miles to 48 months/48,000 miles and has an outstanding service department (as confirmed by several friends who've bought from them). They also provide a 5% discount on parts and service, 10% off on genuine Honda accessories and free annual inspection stickers.

2007 Honda Ridgeline RTL w/o Navi (White/Beige) with Roof Rack, Bed Extender, Fog Lights, Trailer Hitch/Harness, Auto Day/Night Mirror w/Compass, Back-Up Sensors and Front Grille - Out the Door Price: $32,829.

OOPS! Didn't notice the request at the beginning of this thread to post the price without accessories or the standard $595 destination, so here it is: $28,636

I could possibly have arrived at the same or similar pricing without Fighting Chance but it was nice to have it confirmed via their process that I was getting a very good deal and it was well worth the expense. The next best price was from a dealer with whom I wasn't at all impressed and who just didn't leave me with a warm & fuzzy feeling. The next best price after that was over $500 higher, so I'm feeling very comfortable with my purchase.

Smile Re: Perpetual Price Thread

Thanks to all the posters and your info on this site.i have been checking in regularly since last summer when the 2k incentives were around. just ordered a 07 black rtl,no nav. pick it up tomorrow, 28405+dest.,tax,title,license=31447 otd and a set of splash guards thrown in w/ the deal. maybe not the best deal ever, but a good one in my opinion based on this site and others. best part was i did it all online, no running around in the freezing upstate ny winter.
