Re: Perpetual Price Thread
Just bought a 2007 RTL with Navi last Sunday, The dealers sticker with an appearance Package (mud guards, wheel locks, Propack) was $36,320
Salesman started out by bringing out a printout from edmonds.com showing us that the MSRP is 35535.00 that is exactly on the base msrp window sticker of this truck. Invoice was $32053.00 ,the salesman said the dealer has to make something so the TMV "what others are paying" price was $32243.00. Salesman says its fair to make $250 over invoice isn't it? So we talked around until we said we wanted to pay 30k , so the salesman wrote 30053.00 plus tax on the sheet and asked us to initial that we would buy at that price. So we said fair enough, why the 53 bucks was left on the sheet I dunno, but he left and came back after a half hour and said ok the sales manager will sell the truck for the $30053.00 but he said we could not give us the 3.9 percent financing. 7.9 percent was shown on the sheet and the payment options. We didnt want to lease and the salesman said there is no way to get the 3.9 payment unless we go $32053.00. So my wife gets upset and starts telling the salesman that there is 3000 dollars in the difference in interest and the saleman is packing up the papers saying something about him making a $100 dollars on the deal. His manager then comes out and says how about $31500 and he will do the 3.9 percent financing, so we bit, hook, line and sinker. Bottom line, RTL Navi at $31,500.00 and 3.9 percent financing with HMC. Is it a good deal?, they play every day we play once every five years. |

Re: Perpetual Price Thread
They probably verified the on-going debate of 3.9% and/or $1500 rebate.
The invoice price is before any rebates and the dealership's 2% holdback. I'm fairly sure there's an ongoing rebate based on volume because of the prices we've seen below Invoice - Holdback - Rebate. |

To: CyclicPitcher
that was a good deal (as in they were being honest). dealerships are not allowed to provide customers with both the manufacturer to dealership cash and the special finance rate. if a dealership does and is caught by Honda they will be considered in violation. either way, to go from 36k car to a 31k car is of course a 5 grand discount. I'd say that's a fair amount of discounting off of any car (luxary cars not included). congrats on your new vehicle! ![]() |

Writing the perfect email to request car prices
Does anyone have a recommendation of specifically how to word an email to request a price proposal to ensure there are no misunderstandings. I am looking for best price on a RTS.
Secondly, do you recommend getting the tow receiver installed from Honda Or are after market installs just as good. |

I would suggest doing the following: I will be purchasing a Honda Ridgeline (trim, color) without any installed options in the next two weeks (or less). Please send me your price on that trim including Honda's destination charge and any dealer document/processing fees. I will consider arranging financing through your dealership. You can figure out what tax, tags, and titling should cost without letting the dealer quote it. Also take in to consideration the sales tax if you're in a lower tax area than the selling dealership, it always seems to end up as the "higher of" Even if your writing a check, you may get a slightly lower quote because of the commission for the dealership on the financing. Let them know your timeframe is short so their quote isn't sitting out there for months and have them spell out their doc fees. Pull up Cars Direct and see if they'll direct deliver to your market, that'll give you another internet quote without trying. Their price seems low for this market, I'm curious what other fees could be buried in that. I'm also thoroughly convinced some of the used Ridgelines out there are going to have to drop substantially in price. Their wholesale prices are much lower than what dealers are sitting on them for. An '06 RTL is probably going to go for $21-$22k for the right negotiators. Take a look at Ebay Motors for vehicles auctioned by dealers. Those prices are extremely close to the NADA Loan Value the bank I work for uses to determine wholesale value.

Re: Perpetual Price Thread
If your looking for an RTS, don't pay anything over 27,000. I got mine for $26663 before tax with 3.9%. Only two of 10 dealers were willing to do it.
