2007 Ridgeline RTX

I am the new owner of my second Honda Ridgeline. My original Ridgeline was a 2006 RTL which I purchased right when the Ridgelines were available in 2005. What amazed me, is even though I had the car for three years and earned approx 42K miles, value calculations kept the car at only being 2 years old which impacted the value greatly. I'm not sure how many of you got your 2006 Ridgeline in 2005 but you may be in for a severe disappointment in value when mileage is calculated along with the car value (with dealers outside of Honda mind you, more on this far below)...

EDIT : Sorry the above paragraph didn't make much sense in regards to time. What I meant to say is that they acted as if the Ridgeline was 1 year old at dealerships outside of Honda because it is a 2006. The Honda dealership, though, had calculations prepared for those that purchased the Ridgeline in 2005. It definitely was unexpected when I visited other car dealers. The general response was, "WOW! You drove that Ridgeline alot in the year you've had it..." at which time I'd state that I actually purchased it in April 2005.

...regardless...

I couldn't bring myself to buy any other truck on the market. I honestly checked out all of them and it came down to the 2007 Toyota Tundra Crewmax vs the 2007 Honda Ridgeline RTX. For the money, the Toyota just couldn't hold a candle to what the Ridgeline offered as standard equipment. For example, 4WD is an absolute necessary item for me as I have a fairly large sailboat which is launched sometimes of fairly slippery ramps. Well, at the same price as the RTX Ridgeline all I couldn't get a decently equip 2007 Tundra Crewmax. Now I focus on the Crewmax as that is the only model Tundra which seems to come close to the interior room of the base model Ridgeline...

...so...

This past Saturday a nearby Honda dealer was having a closeout special on their 2007 Ridgelines and I thought that, since they had a few RTX models in stock, that I'd see what they'd do for me on my 2006 RTL. See, at Toyota they only wanted to give me $16,500 for my Ridgeline in excellent condition. The Honda dealer... $22,500... WOW! Nice! Unfortunately for me, though, my 2006 was a lease so I couldn't really benefit from this outside of it cutting into my payoff. So, when all was said and done, I was able to get all the options I wanted thrown in at dealer cost and have 4 of the 6 remaining months shaved off my lease which added $1,800 to the price of my new RTX. This time, though, it is a purchase!

Here is a picture of my new sexy 2007 Honda Ridgeline RTX. I haven't named her yet but I am definitely leaning towards Dita.

Oh... I also got the Honda tonneau cover thrown in for $1000 with free installation.

I'm curious, will you miss the options that the RTL offered. I figured that I will go for an RTL in 2009 from my RTS.

There are much better aftermarket navigation units. Personally, I have a T-Mobile MDA phone which I can use a bluetooth GPS unit & Google Maps to get all the navigation I need. I only ever used the moonroof to get the hot air out of the car... Being in Florida, outside of the Fall and Spring, its best to keep the moonroof closed. Also, after 2 and a half years with leather, the hardcore mesh/cloth seats of the RTX were a major welcome for me and my dog.

Ditto that. Seems like great minds think alike. What was interesting was how low my local Toyota dealer went on a Tundra Crewmax, almost 9K off sticker, when before, he was holding at 6K. However, too late, I had made my deal on a dealer used 2006 RTL with a tow package already on. So all my needs were accounted for, plus some extra goodies that my wife really likes in the RTL. Beside, the Ridgeline had already won the battle for the same reasons you stated above.

Good points, I guess the only option I thought I would really miss is the moonroof. Now at least my bald spot won't get sun burned
