The RTX model line vs the RTS model line

Based on what I read at honda.com for the RTX and RTS model lines, I find myself centering on a few key issues:

1. The lack of a security system in the RTX (RTS has one standard)
2. The better audio system in the RTS w/subwooder
3. The dual-zone climate system in the RTS (I've used it in my leased RTS)

What other significant differences between the two models really separate them from one another, to make someone want to settle for the RTX or pay the $2K more for the RTS model? The RTX is more price attractive, but at what cost to convenience?

What does everyone think? Security system and audio system are overrated for the added price of the RTS? Is the RTX more attractive due to the Tow hitch included?

Re: The RTX model line vs the RTS model line

all depends on personal preference. I love the dual zone climate control. My wife is alway cold and I am always warm, so the dual settings are perfect for us. The towing accessories can be added for around $500. The only thing you will need is the hitch and harness plug, if you want one. All other heavy duty items are already installed on the RTS. I actually like the front grill on the RTX better, but you can swap that out on the RTS if you like. The upgraded stereo and the security system are nice, but you can always add those after market to the RTX.

Hope that helps a little.

The quality of the cloth difference is significant, body colored mirrors on the RTS, RTX has dark painted wheels where the RTS has polished (sure it's not expensive to change them after purchase (I did), (as mentioned) dual zone temp control, different grilles... I know I am missing something still

Re: The RTX model line vs the RTS model line

I happen to have the brochure handy. According to that the RTS has over the RTX:

Security System
**Body colored mirrors, door handles
**Dual climate control
**Steering wheel audio controls
**8 way power driver seat w/lumbar support
Higher watt stereo with subwoofer w/6 cd changer
**Exterior temperature in dash

When I went shopping I was going to look at an RTX due to price. They had that silver RTS sitting there and with the dealer incentives the price was GREAT and I'm glad I bought it. I especially like the features above I marked with an "**" and am glad I have them. I needed a hitch, and after we'd negotiated a price I told the dealer I'd buy it if they threw that in and they agreed

A couple of additional things... The driver's seat is powered on the RTS. Also the RTS has the audio controls on the steering wheel. (I like the audio as i hate reaching over to hit the buttons on the head unit).

Re: The RTX model line vs the RTS model line

If your not into changing things get the RTS. Add a Hutch if you need it.

I think the RTX is a better value as I always set the dual zone to the same temp in my other cars.

Things I miss, Outside Temp Sensor. 8 way seat was a like to have.

The RTS stereo sucked.

Re: The RTX model line vs the RTS model line

My buddy has the '07 RTX and I purchase an '07 RTS end of August (I was looking for an RTX, but only 1 dealer had one in 4 states and wanted only $700 less than the RTS I bought for $23990)

Anyway here's my take...

1) Security System - really don't need it here in the 'burbs, set it off while on a camp out and was unimpressed
2) Body colored mirrors, door handles - My RTS is white, black might look better
3) Dual climate control - actually like this when the wife is with me
4) Steering wheel audio controls - I really like the controls
5) 8 way power driver seat w/lumbar support - set it the day I bought it and not since, like the lumbar adjust though
6) Higher watt stereo with subwoofer w/6 cd changer - This was a bigger difference than I thought it would be. The stock speakers are junk so I upgraded (wow what a difference) we did the same to the RTX and it just didn't cut it. We upgraded the head unit in the RTX and added a bazooka sub tube and both sound fine for our over 40 ears.
7) Exterior temperature in dash - not a biggy to me
8) Higher grade cloth interior - I like the looks of my RTS better, but don't know if it's really any higher grade or will last longer

I like the RTX wheels better, but my buddy won't trade me was even going to give him a case of beer (would have worked 20 years ago)

Anyway that's my break down, in my case the price difference due to availability made the RTS a better deal for me IMHO, but we each value options differently. I still think all things equal the RTX is the best deal, but don't tell my buddy I said that.

It's personal preference. I thought I was getting an RTX then found out I was getting an RT (It's a gift so it's all good really) and before I got it I was a bit bummed to find out that I was getting the model with the black mirrors, door handles, and steel wheels with cloth interior.

But once I got it I was pleasantly suprised to see that the steel wheels give it a nice look, the cloth interior is like a heavy sail cloth (which I love), the black mirrors and handles give it a nice utility look which I also love.

I saw a RTS down the street parked yesterday (first one I've seen in white since getting my white RT) and not to start any arguements or disparity, but I think the look of the RT is better than the RTS due to the black mirrors and handles and the steel wheels.

But you get my point right? It's all about personal preferences and what you like. I can certainly live without the dual climate zones, though my better half thinks differently, and the leather Im now happy I didn't get because we had another 101°F day and I was able to go out in shorts and sit in the truck that had been sitting in the sun all day long and didn't burn my legs at all, it was quite comfortable to sit on the cloth.

The stereo is lacking on all the models apparently so doesn't really factor in for those that feel it's lacking. I've gotten use to it now over the past week and think it sounds okay for the music that I listen to. It's not great, it should be louder, but it seems pretty loud and clear with my type of music.

No, Im not trying to sell you on an RT when you want the extras, just pointing out that the RT's trim is pretty darn nice but it's all down to personal preference. I was about to buy the alloy wheels off of ebay until I saw them on the white truck in person (in photos they look great) and I really didn't like the look of them on the white truck in person, so money saved! Whoot!

The alarm can be added in for a couple hundred dollars and if your inclined to do so, you could add it yourself, it's pretty straightforward stuff really, just some time consuming mounting of the items. The dual climate zone is another preference, I have no problem with it. The better half turns the AC to warmer and I turn it back down to colder and open the passenger window to give a little warmth on that side, the audio system I've already written about. Get what you want really.

I like the RTX wheels better. I think the darker color gives the RTX a good look but it is all a matter of personal preference.
