My 2 bits.
I strongly and unequivocally disagree... I'll see your 2 bits and raise you...

6 smacks down on a lease? Buy the truck. It's a Honda and should live long after your final payment... Leasing to me is like renting an apartment. It's a roof over your head but you have nothing to truly call your own. Just think of all the mods you'll miss out on....

Good luck

I'm certainly no expert on the issue of buying vs. leasing...
but when I was talking to my son (I had bought, he had leased), he said,"Your payments are higher; and I can still do the buyout at the end, if I choose."
So the main difference is... at the end of 3 years, I own the 3 year old truck... he has a new vehicle... if he renews the lease). I was still confused...

To me the best part of buying is all those years of no monthly payments. I buy, my parents lease. They enjoy new cars every 3-4 years. And they can afford a car payment every month for the rest of their life... I, on the other hand have one of my vehicles paid for, which made buying the Ridgeline that much more easily. I like driving my cars for 3 or 4 years payment free so I have that money to make emergency repairs or do other things with. My best friend leases because he writes his payments off on his business. So it makes sense for him I guess...

Re: At the Dealer now!!!!!! - HELP

We lease our vehicles because we were always looking for a new one every 3 years or so. We have accepted the fact that we will have car payments for the vast majority of our lives, so why not drive something new every 3-4 years? we have no desire to own a 3-4 year old vehicle (my jeep excluded), don't have to worry about repairs, just oil changes and the basics.

Leasing isn't for everyone. Back in the day, when they had open ended leases, it was a terrible idea, now, if you are familiar with how leases work, you can get good deals, and walk away at the end of the term. We turned in our '04 Pilot when we got our RL, got an inspection, and dropped it off at the dealership, no fuss...no muss.

Re: At the Dealer now!!!!!! - HELP

I leased this RTL because of the many fuel changes/options that are coming to Honda vehicles in the next 36 months.

I ended up putting $5k down and my payments are now $219 a month.

The best part is that the dealer wrote me a check for $13k for the difference in my trade. I will use that surplus or "slush fund" to make the payment and put away for a rainy day.

By the way, I love my Ridgeline........

I agree fully with birch.....I leased an Acura TL before I bought my RL and felt like I could not do anything fun in the TL because I would end up paying for it at the end of the lease. I really did not feel like it was my car (3 year rental). I do like the idea of a new car every 2 - 4 years, but if you make good deals on buying cars, you will not get hurt too bad....especially since you have to usually make an up front depreciation payment on a leased vehicle anyway....just my thoughts.

I know I'm late to this post, but I love the Nav compared to my Garvin. I think the RL Nav is great.
