Thinking about buying a Ridgeline

***First Post***

I currently drive a 98 Subaru Legacy that gets me 23 mpg. I'm tired of not having a truck and I like the features of the Ridgeline. It seems like the Ridgeline will get me around 20 MPG so I think that wouldn't be too off from what I'm getting now. A dealer near me has an 06 RTL for $17,981. It has 63,352 miles on it and and comes Honda Certified. I was looking at only borrowing $15K after my trade-in so that would put the payments under $300 a month. Do you guys think it's a good deal? I think all I would need to add is the towing package and it will be what I want.

Thanks!

Don't plan on 20mpg. Plan on 15-22mpg. Towing, much less.

Re: Thinking about buying a Ridgeline

I hardly ever tow anything. I have a small bass boat that I take out about once a month but most of my work commute is 55mph (which means 60-65). Come on UMASS, I'm trying to talk myself into it!!!! =-)

Another thought is to jump in to the RTX if towing is the key. They are selling new 08's now at under $22,000.

Go for it. Just don't be disappointed if you get 15mpg.

Re: Thinking about buying a Ridgeline

15 MPG would really make me reconsider......a buddy of mine gets 19 on his V8 Tundra.

Re: Thinking about buying a Ridgeline

Gas mileage is the #1 complaint with the Ridgeline. The search tool is your friend. There are at least a hundred gas mileage threads here with people reporting their mileage, some with fancy graphs and charts.

I've read a few threads but I guess I'm just having some wishful thinking issues....

That's a great way to set yourself up for disappointment.

Re: Thinking about buying a Ridgeline

Rob-your buddy with the Tundra must spend a lot of time going downhill to get 19mpg. Ridgeline mileage is best when moving 45-65 with few stops. 4500 pounds is a lot to get moving. That said, my 07 consistently gets 20.3 to 20.5, but I don't do commute traffic. Towing my 3200 # Hi-Lo gets 14.6-15.3, which is WAY better than the 02 RAM I had.
