Re: Signing off - buying an F 150

In the end, you really only have to please yourself. You make the monthly payments for your vehicle.

If you're satisfied with the new F150, I'm happy for you. I hope you enjoy it!

Re: Signing off - buying an F 150

I would like to say Thank you.
My brother works at the Ford plant. He was really upset when I bought a Honda. I heard for weeks about all the employee discounts he could have gotten me and how I overpayed for my RL. So maybe you buying a Ford will keep him employed another month. Union workers, there so hyper.

Re: Signing off - buying an F 150

Hope you enjoy your F150. My '97 F150 lasted 8 1/2 years before I got the RL. Also, my company makes the frame for your truck (different plant than where I am), so we can really use the business. Might help us get out of chapter 11!

Re: Signing off - buying an F 150

I saw a TV advertisement from dodge for the 0% and NO payments till OCTOBER. Not bad I thought. So I did some quick researching for the heck of it. A Dodge 1500 4x4 4d Laramie started at 33000. By the time I added what I could to match the Ridgeline, Navigation, sunroof, and some of the non standard safety features, I was at 45000. I Did a dealer search, nothing close. Lots of the basic equipped trucks @ 35000.00-39000. So with 10000 down I was still at 35000, Too much. Gas mileage, 16-17 HWY, (yeah right). No thanks. Not worth it. Sorry detroit. Build me something thats different with ALL the same safety features and I may reconsider it. You will have 5 years to come up with something.

PS: If your gonna compare trucks, compare similar options and equipment before you compare the different models. Don't say your ford 2wd is cheaper when your comparing to an AWD or similar 4x4. You will see the value/difference is very clear.

1 Honda dealers don't want to negotiate, they think the RL is something "rare".
Honda doesn't cower as much as ford & GM for a reason. I was a Ford owner for many years, retail on a ford is < 50% after 2 years. Honda is about 50% after 5

Quote:
2 Why do I have to pay allot more for dealer installed extras that I can get correctly installed at the Ford factory for a lot less such as reverse sensing, towing package, etc. ?
I agree 100 % , to bad Honda doesn't have the experience Ford has... Ford mechanics see so much action, they can practically rip them apart in there sleep. Honda See's less repairs, so each one is a new experience for the mechanics... so there is a learning curve.... I like it that way... less repairs, less headache
Quote:
3a Sure, all new vehicles have problems, but the more they sell the quicker they are corrected. I'll bet they sell at least 1000 F 150's for every RL.
Fleet sales drives the numbers my friend. Big business doesn't care if it breaks in 3 years, tax write offs!
Quote:
3b 3 years/36000 is the same. If it breaks , they fix it free.
Count the visits... your time should be worth more to you. I like seeing my family, not enterprise and the ford service manager

4 The blind spot. Radical styling is nice when it doesn't interfere with visibility.
I loved the visibility, try using your mirrors, they work great

5 The hump on the floor. What's the heck is it ? Why would I drive with my knee in my face ?
Its called a console, good for storing things ... why do you keep your foot on it, do you like your knee in your face

6 In the USA trucks are big sellers. If the foreign makers want to compete they better come up with something better than this .
They did, an 07 Ridgeline, Pilot & new CR-v

I would have expected that remark to come from Mike Deason.

Even after winning the award for best pick up in it's class this year, you are buying a Ford! You get what you ask for!

Happy Trails!

Re: Signing off - buying an F 150

I thought I read the link where the warranty was boosted to 5 years for the Ridgeline, up from 3 years?
