I picked up the 24FN Everstart MAXX at WM today with a November 2012 date. I had to pick around the first one on the rack as it was dated 08/12.
It fits perfectly. I took the old OEM battery back for the core refund and had them load test it just out of curiosity. The new battery sure spins the motor over with much more vigor! I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen any of the funny/weird battery indications as others have reported here. Or perhaps I caught it before it got to that stage.
Ignore the time, they didn't have it set right. It was probably closer to 4:30pm this afternoon.
I had to guess at the date of the OEM battery. I told them to use 05/2008 which was the date of mfg of my RL.
I also tried out my memory saver (with 9v battery). Hmm, I didn't lose the radio security code, but then again, I only had power disconnected for about 30 minutes. However, I did lose my trip computer info. I left the ignition in position 1 (acc) and thought that was sufficient. Not sure what to think.
Also, I thought I had some grease to use on the new battery terminals but couldn't remember what I did with it in the rush to install the battery and dash off to school to pick up kids.
Later I remembered I had some dielectric tune up grease I used on my backup sensors that plug into my 7 pin trailer harness. Would that be a good grease to help prevent corrosion on the terminals? I put some of those red and green corrosion inhibitors on. There was no pre-existing corrosion from the OEM battery.
