Smile Re: TSB 08-045 Chirp From the Timing Belt Area

My 06 Ridgeline purchased 2 yrs ago as a "Certified Honda Used" has had unusual belt noise for probably last 6 months...once warmed up more noticeable (22K miles). Being ASE Diesel Tech by trade...I removed serpentine belt which eliminated power steering pump, alternator & tensioner pulley...rubbing noise (no chirping) was behind cam belt cover. Made appointment with local Honda dealer (also have Honda Care Contract)...at first they told me it was going to cost upwards of $600 to repair (not cover by contract)...then I mentioned Honda Service Bulletin 08-045. Suddenly American Honda approved repair with paying only $50 deductible...PRICELESS. Thank You Ridgeline Owners Group!

Re: TSB 08-045 Chirp From the Timing Belt Area

I just notice this the other day. However it does not sound like a chirp or a bird but the sound is from the belt area. Brother and Father-in-law (ASE Independent Honda Techs) said take it in and mention this TSB. I just hit 36K on the way to work today, but I do have an extra 12K warranty due to it being a Certified Used. Hopefully the replace it with no cost to me. If the say anythign about a cost I am calling American Honda
