Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
Just bought an '07 RTX because my boys are growing and it's bigger than my Jeep. Goodbye Diesel Liberty, hello gas pickup. I used to own a 2001 Tacoma. I beat the snot out of that thing, never fixed anything and it never let me down.
What can I expect out of the Ridgeline as far as toughness? I bought it because of the size, versatility, and comfort was outstanding. Can I actually be rough with it? Someone that's had one for while, please let me know something. Brant.

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
How do you plan on being "rough" with it?
Like as in mashing the pedals? or taking it off-road, etc?

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
The videos kinda say it all. I am a former Jeep nut and have only known American style 4x4's (using lockers and transfer cases). I am new to off-roading with the AWD setup and can't wait to try it now.
The first time I turned down a dirt road and punched it, I expected the typical fish-tailing...but low and behold it squatted and shot down the road like a rocket! I guess I was expecting something like the Subaru Outback, AWD for the pavement. I'll be pulling a camper trailer with it as well as a utility trailer. Fishing/camping/hunting trips are in the near future. Anyone try the different intakes and exhausts available? Is there a significant power/ economy increase? Any feedback is good feedback! Brant.

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
Brant, welcome to the ROC. We are one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Ridgeline forums around. I would like to suggest the use of the Search tool located in the blue header bar near the top of each forum. Once you find a thread of interest, you will be able to search within that thread by using the Search this Thread tool located in the blur bar at the top of each thread. The search tools accept three (3) word searches. Have fun, if you do not find what you are looking for, ask and you will get the help your looking for.

Good luck there, Buddy. you will be able to search within that thread... Just do it yourself, and don't hassle me. I'm resting. The search tool accepts 3 word searches... So you're on your own. Got a problem with that! Have fun... P*** off. If you do not find what you are looking for... Can anybody be this stupid? Ask and you will get... something you didn't quite expect the help you are looking for "We're from the government and we're here to help" Just pulling both your chains, don't shoot.

kwoodman,
Now that's funny! i have read a few of the other forums and have yet to get a definitive answer from anyone. I'm a straight forward type of guy...not politician material if you know what I mean. For example, I read the posts on the K&N intakes, nobody will take a stand and say yes or no. always a noncommittal type of answer. Mathematically, won't 11hp be absorbed by the torque converter/AWD couplers, etc? Probably, but has anyone used them and do they work? What about the AEM and AFT intakes? ![]() What about the magnaflow cat back exhaust system? about to spend 150$ on a magnaflow muffler only because I can't get a straight answer. ![]() Brant

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
In the case of the Ridgeline, the aftermarket cold air intakes and aftermarket exhausts are pretty mus\ch a waste of money if looking for over all increase in performance. Period. With CAI, your trque curve might show an increase at the higher RPM's but will loose torque at lower rom's. I used to run K&N and still do not think that there is anything inherently wrong with them (Based on my personal experience), but after a lengthy challenge to K&N to prove their drop in filters superiority to the Honda Ridgeline OEM filter, I have decided to stop using the K&N product all together. The thread is still here and can be found using the search tool

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
I love my K&N for the sound and the cleaner look under the hood was worth it to me. As far as a custom exhaust goes, they sound and look good but i have heard they are loud and drony inside which is what turned me off of the exhaust. But if you want to hear the exhaust echoing throughout the cab every day then go for it but ill pass i like the quiet. You wont see any significant changes in power or torque with either modification, its all about the sound more or less. To each their own, i personally am not against either but they are both very expensive to produce such little output.

Re: Honestly, How tough is a Ridgeline?
Now that's the type of answer I was looking for! That means that the Home Depot intake is the best idea going! Talk about American engineering. Thanks for saving me the money.
Brant.
