Re: Home Depot Intake

OK guys so i did the install and i am for the most part very pleased. Sound is great. Its deeper, slightly louder, and generally better. I recommend this mod for anyone who was debating. i was skeptical but not anymore. If you are looking for a huge power or horsepower gain, you will be disappointed. I may have notice a little improvement between 2500 and 4000 rpms... maybe.

The best part to me is the huge gulf of air the engine takes when you are going full out and it shifts gears.

Any other questions, just ask. and if you want pictures just ask and i will post.

I see that most people kept the ram air part of the original intake, is there a reason why they did and did you keep it? Its the plastic part near the hood where the air comes in. I wanted to do this mod since I am remounting my ballasts and thought I might as well do this too since it shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Home Depot Intake

The "ram air" part most people leave because if you take it out it leave a big hole in the plastic and its just a painted unfinished looking area. Its not a very clean look in my opinion

Re: Home Depot Intake

well its dark now so i will get pictures up tomorrow. and i kept the ram air because, if removed, it would look unfinished, like previously said. and i think it adds cooler air coming in from outside to under the hood and i think that helps the entire effect of the intake system.

Re: Home Depot Intake

I agree with capt-jack I think this intake is effective because it's pretty far away from the heat of the engine I felt the same power increase at pretty much the same rpms. The ram air will bring in nice fresh cool air right by the filter. I don't think there would be any difference at all having the filter in the fender.

So did you only buy the filter itself? I bought the same one and some other stuff, but it seems like you just needed only the filter. That'd be cool, bc then I could just return the other stuff. Would you mind posting some pictures?

Ya martinx817 I just bought the filter and took the spacers out and attatched the filter to the stock rubber tube. I couldn't find the right parts so I tried just mounting it like I did. I only have an I phone and I tried to download pics on here but it wouldn't let me. So if anyone knows how to put pics on by I phone please inform me thnks

just figured out that I won't be able to do this mod because of the new sensor they put in the 2009 models. Well I could but I would have to cut my intake box, and that's something I would rather not do.
