Re: Honda Accord, Ridgeline to receive diesel power [1.5.7]
VCM was only offered on the 2wd Pilot for 2009. Honda offers VCM for all versions of the 2010 Pilot.

And - if I've followed correctly - they're also "in" when accelerating from a dead stop. In any case, I would think that the cylinder reduction would ONLY be activated in situations where the rear wheel clutches had long since been disengaged...

Re: Honda Accord, Ridgeline to receive diesel power [1.5.7]
VCM will add to mileage. In the case you describe the system will provide 6 cylinders giving you the same performance as a non-VCM system. Which is the point of the VCM system.

I don't know...I just remember reading on this site that there was a logical reason behind not building VCM into the Ridge....if there wasn't, don't you think they would have???

Can't think of a technical reason... maybe timing, marketing considerations... dunno. Could be the next engine is the more logical upgrade point.

Any new rumours about a V8 for 2011/2012? Is a makeover in the works??

Re: Honda Accord, Ridgeline to receive diesel power [1.5.7]
It's worse still with elevation, add a headwind and it's lights out on mpg. I'm lucky to get 18 mpg on the interstate here at 5000 ft (= 20% power loss), hilly, and windy. My 83 mile daily round trip drive to work is 95% interstate. I know plenty of V8 trucks that get better mileage than me. My RL is always downshifting and amping up the rpms just to maintain the the speed limit on cruise control, even on the slightest incline. You can't even tell it's an incline visually, you just know it when the the speed drags down several mph below the CC set point before it finally downshifts to get out of the hole. It's definitely due to a lack of low rpm torque.

Re: Honda Accord, Ridgeline to receive diesel power [1.5.7]
Looks like your suspension is pretty highly modified. Why would you expect OEM MPG?
You may get better MPG by not using the cruise and modulating your speed and the transmission shifts with your right foot. Your speed will vary a little more but it will make a difference.
