Re: New wheels finally!!

The bad spots and specks you see on the wheels are from the chrome flaking and turning the wheel black in those spots. They are all sanded down smooth and ready for primer basically. Just needs some 320 grit hand sanding to smooth everything out. The raw finish always looks like crap! Just a little fyi

It will be interesting to see how the chromes will take to the paint. Can't wait to see 'em

Re: New wheels finally!!

The chrome doesn't take paint well at all! That's why my wheel looks so dull like polished aluminum, because its bare metal. There is no chrome plating left on them they are "raw" metal now . I'm trying to not get too anxious and jump on painting them and have to redo it . The temptation is tough

Re: New wheels finally!!

Looks like you've made a lot of progress. Can't wait to see the finished product, are you going to run the bfg's you had on the stockers?

Re: New wheels finally!!

Thanks guys. I plan on putting these wheels in my BFG's and my stock wheels back in the factory tires for travel tires. These mud terrains do great everyday, but dont want them wearing out premature;y due to excessive highway use

Re: New wheels finally!!

I bought some black primer so that the wheels will look finished on the next pic you see. Even though they will be far from it . Hopefully ill get the one in primer and maybe another one sanded down and primed. It takes me about 3 hours with a dremel to get them prepped so I won't get all 4 done today. But there is always next week

Re: New wheels finally!!

What about a powder coat. Works well with motorcycle wheels and will be more durable
