Anybody own one?

Does anybody here own one of these mitre saws?
Have a chance to pick up one at a ridiculous cost.
Yes, I'm a woodworker.

Do you use it solely as a shop tool, or do you transport it to site?
It is quite heavy.

Re: Anybody own one?

It spends most of its life in the shop, but if I'm building or tearing down log cabins ill transport it and all of my tools to the job site (usually an hour or 2 away from my shop). It does have some weight to it, but it works great so I don't mind transporting it. Most all my tools are Milwaukee 24v battery powered for ease of transporting and great tools

Currently use the Bosch 10" slider and it works well. But a little long in the tooth, and I am a trim carpenter, so it is a main tool for me.
When this deal came along yesterday ($355 U.S.) for the Hitachi (new), I am tempted. But I use it almost exclusively on site, and it's a bit large. That's why I asked. Also, I have a collection of good 10" blades. Decisions...

Re: Anybody own one?

I noticed a new tool store in the 5 Oaks Mall in Pigeon Forge last week that was big into factory refurbished Rigid tools. The had all at about 1/2 retail. They had the miter saw and a drill press that I would like to have had. Never owned Ridgid, but they used to put out a calendar that was to die for!!

Oh God, you could say that again! Them was the years!!

I remember seeing Rachel Welsh in one of those calendars back in the '60's before her "rise" to stardom!

Stihl puts out one equally as good. You won't see it on display. You have to ask your counter guy. You won't be disappointed.

The only calendar that I ever saw that could top Rigid was from Marathon Aircraft Batteries. I had a different set of nude twins on each month's page. At the end of the year I had people begging me for that calendar. Boy did I fool them, I marked up the days on each month for the new year. BTW, Rigid did make great tools in years past, our huge tool crib at the shop I worked in was full of them!!
