Ordered new struts.

Well I finally ordered some new struts my l/r strut is blown and makes a rattle noise over every bump on that side. I am kinda dissapointed seeing as I only have 34,000 miles on this truck. But anyways I ordered kyb's for just the rear hopefully this takes care of the noise.

Re: Ordered new struts.

The Ridgeline rear suspension doesn't have a struts. The rear suspension is made up of a springs with a shock running vertically up the center of the each coil spring.

Re: Ordered new struts.

Yeppers, I made the same mistake and was corrected by the lead designer himself, Gary Flint.

Re: Ordered new struts.

FYI, the OEM shocks and struts are made by KYB.

Have you checked for broken sway bar links? Could be the source of the rattling.

Re: Ordered new struts.

The sway bar links don't appear to be broken but I have seen that on some other cars. I know the shocks are bad because the LR is leaking fluid out of it.

I do know that the factory struts and shocks are made my KYB like a lot of cars. Aftermarket KYB's will have a lifetime warranty though and I think they are better. I also get cost on them $39 each.

Re: Ordered new struts.

I replace my rear shocks today. So what is the difference between a shock and a strut? I removed the whole shock assembly which seems to be the same as a strut. Took it to the spring compressor and compressed the spring so I could remove the nut off of the mounting plate to put the new shock in. I have never had to do that to a shock before. Every shock I have replaced you never needed a spring compressor to remove an attached mounting plate.

Re: Ordered new struts.

Anyone have any problems with the fronts? Those ARE struts, no??

I've got a front right that ONLY makes creaking noise in the mornings, when it's cold....
