Cargo Lights

I am wondering if anyone has modified their Cargo Lights to bypass the timer, and if anyone has also modified the lights to stay on while in Drive? Some might wonder why, one reason is for Cruise Nights.

Please let me know if anyone can help me.

Thanks

Re: Cargo Lights

I would imagine you would have to completely re wire the cargo lights. The reason they go out when put in drive is because in most states it it against the law to driver with cargo lights on.

Re: Cargo Lights

Gouranga I changed all my lights inside and outside to LED's and my cargo lights are Blue. I would like to get rid of the timer first and if I can maybe while I Drive allow the cargo lights to stay on by the switch.

Re: Cargo Lights

Federal vehicle requirement prevents this. Not sure about Canada's laws. No, I have not read the referenced CFR to find the applicable portion.

Re: Cargo Lights

After replacing mine with LEDs, I know I would not want to be driving behind it with the cargo lights on. If it was possible to just have the ones in the bed turned on, that should not be a distraction to other drivers.

Re: Cargo Lights

The body computer controls the lights.

You can do this ... only you will need to install a switch that can handle the current of the lamps (the current one may not be able to) and run (medium-diameter) wires back to the bed to bypass the computer's control.

Re: Cargo Lights

My main concern is to bypass the timer. I not really worried about driving with the cargo lights on. I just want to bypass the time so when I am at a night show I can turn them on and forget about it. Right now I have to recycle the lights every few minutes and I would like to do away with that.

Here is a picture of the Cargo Lights would love to remove the timer

I want to do this. What LEDs are used in the cargo area?
