Seem to recall that there's a similar issue with original government-issue 1911s but don't remember the exact details. Just have a vague recollection of the MPs giving me some sort of precaution when they issued mine when I was stationed in Germany. Go figure, can't remember a minor detail on a weapon that I haven't held in my hand for over 40 years!

Very nice. As a C&R FFL holder, I am often tempted for those old Winchesters as well as Sam Colt's wonderful handguns of the late 1800's. But prohibitive costs on the finer examples keeps my collection in check...

I am starting on my Saiga 12 conversion today. Got most of the parts in.
Moving the trigger group forward, adding a Hogue pistol grip and a Magpul adjustable stock.

Happy gunsmithing! Need to find a competent gunsmith around here as I'm hesitant to attempt taking off the non-adjustable, staked stock on my AR so that I can replace it with a Magpul CTR unit. Am hoping that it's possible to do without having to replace the buffer tube (confirmed by S&W to be mil-spec).

Not yet, no stores around here with a good selection for her to try. Will have to wait until the next time we go over to Albany for a day as there are a couple of excellent gun shops there with lots of choices.

You will love the Magpul CTR. Heck, all Magpul products rock.
Not sure about your stock being "staked". We have changed numerous AR's to Magpul MOE's without any issues.

I am trying to decide on doing one on the Saiga 12. Finally found a conversion kit to be able to use one.
