Original stereo on my used 08 will not turn off! - Page 2

I don't have stereo controls in my steering wheel. Does that make any difference?

Then you don't have an RTS per your profile. Else a prior owner changed out the OEM steering wheel which seems unlikely.

The strange thing is that if I fiddle with the volume causing it to beep repidly and pulse the power button, then turn the ignition to power on and off, the stereo finally turns off.

I don't know about your radio.

I can help you determine which RL trim you have. If you have a factory installed hitch, body colored door handles, and painted alloys, you have an RTX. If you have steel wheels and black door handles, you have an RT.

Better yet, go to this site and you can figure it out from the specs and features:

So I did some digging. Here's what Honda recommends:

Radio stays powered with the ignition switch OFF

NOTE:

Check the vehicle battery condition first.
Always check for aftermarket accessories plugged into the vehicle accessory power sockets.

Hi Justman - I found this on a site that Honda Mechanics use, it's called In Honda (http://www.in.honda.com/). Most dealerships use it but it is not available to the public (unless you pay for it). Ironically, there is a bulletin on the issue you describe which suggests that the dealership you went to is a little sloppy.......
