Best Speakers under $50??
I know that this could potentially be a loaded question but I am driving myself crazy trying to find the right speakers to replace my factory versions. With Amazon, Crutchfield and ebay, along with people's reviews has made it hard for me to pull the trigger. I just recently changed the tweeters and they have certainly made a difference...looking to complete the package within my budget contraints: $50 per set.
So I ask those that are out there...please help!

Speakers are one thing that, on the whole, you get what you pay for.

Totally understand that you get what you pay for...I am essentially trying to step up or two above OEM.

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
Almost anything will be a step up.
Have you done the tweeter upgrade yet?? If not, definitely start there! I was shocked at how much better my RTL factory system with sub sounded.. I am an amateur audiophile though, and have always had full systems in my cars - so with that said, it still isn't enough for me, but man - that is a great/simple upgrade with huge value. Otherwise, with speakers - to echo chip's comment above - you generally get what you pay for, and running with or without an aftermarket amp is also a huge consideration.. Without an amp, the tweeters alone would probably be best. With an amp (even 50 decent watts RMS, check out the alpine MRP-F300 for a solid budget friendly option), I would go with SPS-610C Alpine components for the money up front (slightly higher than your budget though I think), and some cheaper coax for the rear. Tweeters first is my advice though, go from there with adding an amp and maybe some front components or coaxial down the road.. |

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
Save your money. The stock door drivers are very efficient and will perform nearly as well as anything you put in there while using the stock head unit (which only puts out about 7-10 watts RMS). The tweeters are the huge downfall of the front speaker package and you have already taken care of them. Until you really have the money and get into replacing the stock HU, leave the speakers alone. Then, you can get into thinking about a decent component set and amplifying them along with a replacement subwoofer, etc. If you get a set of cheap coaxials and throw them in the door, you will not gain anything from it with the stock HU.

Best Speakers under $50??
Keep an eye out on crutchfields website. I got 2 sets of polk db651s for $150 shipped. That included the wire harnesses and brakes. That worked out to be a few $ more than the cheapest I could find just the speakers for.

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
These are both over your budget (but not by much) and aren't bad for the money.
Infinity Reference 6032cf $56.11 Polk Audio DB651s $58.90 Metra 72-7800 Speaker Wire Adapters $4.95 (you need 2 pair) http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-METRA-72...item2562291551 Scosche SAHR6 Speaker Adapters $8.88 (you need 2 pair) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scosche-20...00000003142050 Last edited by loginfailed; 02-25-2013 at 01:17 PM. |

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
here is what I did and these speakers have been working pretty hard for me since. Don't know if they tuned thing up since 06, but at the time many folks experienced a weird fuzzy boominess at times that some fixed with bass blockers. All I can say is these were a very significant improvement in tightness and treble. They play cleanly at levels way over having a yelling conversation. Got them at FRYS on sale.

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
I put the DB651 in my fronts. Made a little difference, not too much. Replaced the rears with the Infinitis...made a moderate amount of difference as you could actually hear the highs. Replaced the tweeters with some no namers off Amazon... made the biggest difference.

Re: Best Speakers under $50??
I agree with what was said.
For under $50.00 just do the simple 25 min tweeter upgrade. http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/f...ad.php?t=39073 Infinity or JBL tweeters, the target is 92-93 db spl for any tweeter set and even a set of coax speakers if that is needed later if no amp is going to be used. |
