Factory sub with new HU

Hello everybody, after weeks of reading the forums I finally decided to become a member!
Okay, so here's my question. I have an '06 RTS and I want to replace the stereo with a Pioneer DEH-4400HD mainly for the AUX and USB functionalities. But I am happy with the factory speakers and sub, because I think they sound good, and I can't afford new ones! However, I have learned that If I replace the HU, the factory sub will no longer work. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Is there some type of connection I need to buy, or are there certain HU's I should buy? Basically, what is the cheapest way to make this setup work?
Thanks for your responses, and I am new to this so anything can help!

Its all right here, very fresh. Read up specially post #9

Basically for you narrowed to buy this plus a set or RCA cables to reach wherever you decide to install it.

Once you get tired of the boomy factory sound and get fatigued from it like I did after a month or so even though I thought it was OK, for under $50.00 do the dash tweeter upgrade also posted on post number 9 on that link.
