Things to see and do in Albuquerque & New Mexico ?

I will not be driving my Ridgeline, but secured cheap plane tickets for a week's vacation in Albuquerque and anywhere a rental vehicle will take my family. Have daughter 9 and son 14, and wife as well.

Looking for suggestions on what to do and see. Obviously have limited time and want to make the most of it.. thanks in advance for your help. We enjoy the outdoors, hiking, etc but the best vacation would probably be a great variety of activities..

Albuquerque has many attractions too numerous to mention. since you will be there a week, you can make day trips to Taos and Sante Fe.

A must see is the bandalear indian ruins up in los alamos,,,these are some of the best indian ruins in the country, they go along side the mountians for miles,,,looks like 10,000 people lived there at 1 time. It is cool also if you like BBQ be sure and take 1 night and eat at the Quarters restraunt,,,best BBQ sauce I have ever eaten and you can buy it by the gallon to take back home. Also a drive or you can take the tram which is kinda neet to the top of the Sandia's,,,very nice at the top looking down on the city from 6000 feet above.

You want to go to the Sandia Crest 10000 feet elevation, you don`t have to take the tram u can drive on I40 and take exit #175 and after about 15 minutes driving look for Sandia Crest sign on your left and then go all the way up , beeautiful road! Then You can go I25 Hwy and take exit 242(Bernalillo county) and go along the 550 road and then take road 4 north and it take you through the best mountain outview ever! u will travel through the Los Alamos either and u can visit along that way Hot springs and probably can even swim in it u end up in Santa Fe , visit town square u never regret. And plus when u take road 4 north on your right u also may choose go along road 550 which is head toward to Farmington and it is not that far away from there- beautiful place called Chaco cultural national historic park and the road to it u must see, beautiful mountain outview again)
Enjoy your trip.

Re: Things to see and do in Albuquerque & New Mexico ?

yes, I had heard from a friend of my wife who has been to New Mexico that the NW corner including Santa Fe is a must see. we don't mind spending 1-2 days in a location before moving on...

Anyone with suggestions please keep them coming. One individual said there are numberous attractions in Alburquerque--I am sure it is true--however, I am looking for how best to spend the limited time we have..

Any suggestions on food or best places to stay work as well.. we don't have to stay at fancy places-can be good bed & breakfast, or cabin at a state park, or just a good, clean continental breakfast hotel..

thanks in advance for suggestions...

Need someone to guard my Ridgeline when it is in the parking lot at the airport.
