Im New to the forum here and wanna ask a question

I am 14 years old and my dad has a 2006 ridgeline. I am actually obsessed about the truck. I was wandering, the 2 inch lift kits u can buy for the ridgeline, are they worth it??? My dad is giving me his ridgeline in about a year or so. i wana get the Hella F550 fog lights with the 2 inch lift kit and wrap it all up with larger rims and tires. what would you suggest getting for the ridgeline if i plan on doing a lot of offroading? would you NOT suggest any of the items i mentioned?

Thanks in advance everyone, i cant wait to hear back from you all.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on having such a generous father.
  1. The Ridgeline is not designed for hardcore 4x4 driving. Not suggested as a dedicated 4x4 vehicle.
  2. The 2" lift causes problems for the suspension and drivetrain components as they were not designed for the 2" lift. Not suggested.
  3. You will be limited on how much larger tire diameter you can go to as the wheel well clearence is limited. Not suggested
  4. Useing the search tool in the blue header bar will net you the results showing the reasons for my posts.

Congratulations. Ask your Dad if he wants to adopt me. I've read a lot of the previous posts, and MikeT gave you a great answer. Good luck.

Welcome to the ROC... So I take it you are keeping the RL nice and clean and teaching your dad what the RL can do....

Don't expect it to be an off-road master and no school yard fights over the RL being better at everything... There are limitations.

Re: Im New to the forum here and wanna ask a question

I have the 2 truxxx lift and have loved it. I have had zero problems. The lift has given me the extra clerance that I needed. I would go with a little bigger tires and keep the rims the same. The ridge is great for rough dirt roads not good for rock crawling. I use my ridge for 2 things one every day truck to and from work and 2 is to get to my hunting spots and scouting. That takes me out some back roads that get pretty rough.

You really need to be focusing on Girls first, and the RL second....

I'm using mine for the same but not as much off road probably as you. I do haul my ATV in the back. I think the Ridgeline needs more ground clearance but am worried about putting on a lift kit. I am about ready for new tires (59,700 miles) and am thinking about maybe getting 245/70/17 to get another 1/2 inch clearance, if there is room it loks like there should be. But I'm also wondering about the VSA, if it will malfunction. As far as the lift kit what about excessive wear on boots etc? No problems? I am also looking into rear air shocks to handle the weight of the ATV better (525#) but don't know yet if any are available. Any thoughts on any of this?
