What would you do

I am going on a long road trip, about 3,500 miles. I am almost at 10,000 should I do the 12,000 MM before leaveing or wait till I have gotten back. I am going to change my oil before I leave, is there any oil best for milage? Thank for your help.

I would at least put fresh oil in before I go, just for peace of mind...a drain and fill will cost what, $15...

You could also stop and have it done in the middle of the trip. Would be a good excuse to take a break. Haven't stopped for maintenance before, but we did stop at a semi-truck wash place and have our F250 and trailer cleaned on the way to vegas last fall.

Re: What would you do

I'm in the middle of a similar road trip right now. I changed my oil before I left, even though it still had 30% life left. I just didn't want to mess with it while on the road. I didn't go to the dealer, but to a local shop near me that specializes in Hondas. Oil change and lube, about 25 bucks. I'll probably have it changed again next month, since I'll have put about 5,000 miles on it since the oil change.

Re: What would you do

I would do what Rusty did. Change it early and reset the MM.
