Official Wieght of Truck?

Hey I forgot to post this sooner, but I had the certificate of Origin for my truck before I titled/licensed it, and it said the weight was 4,300 something. Sorry I forget now, but I think it was 4,362, but I am sure that it was 4,300 somthing.

And Honda says its heavier than this on their website, wonder which is right?

Re: Official Wieght of Truck?

I believe Honda show the Curb Weight of the vehicle to be 4494 lbs (this is from Edmunds for the RTS) and the Gross Weight to be 6050 lbs. Your number probably comes from the Curb Weight which is the weight of the vehicle alone (without fuel) while the Gross Weight is the weight of the vehicle full fueled and loaded as specified by the manufacturer. It should represent approximately the maximum weight of the vehicle when loaded properly. What I am not sure of is if the Curb Weight is the base vehicle or if it is the vehicle with accessories, because I have never read anywhere that you need to account for accessories when you load the vehicle.

Re: Official Wieght of Truck?

I had to take mine to a weigh station scale for DMV. After the hitch was installed, it weighed 4540. So I'm guessing that the RTS 4494 is probably accurate.

Did you clean it before you went to the station or was that with a full load of dirt on the side . Seems you are right, the weight is before accessories which means to avoid a ticket on the highway make sure you consider their weight when adding stuff into the bed because your gross weight (which is the maximum you are allowed to be) is only 6050.

Re: Official Wieght of Truck?

Yeah, here in WI we have personal trucks in 3 classes: A=4,500 lbs B=6,000 lbs C=8,000 lbs.

So I paid the extra $13, and got a B class for $61.50 for the year, cause I guess they fine you for every pound over you are. And Wisconsin state troopers are crazy strict!

Otherwise, I guess that makes sense, cause now that you mention it I think the certificate said "dry weight" and 22 gallons of gas has to weigh a good amount.
