My first visit to a Honda Service Department turned out to be a good experience. More in following posts.

Re: Service Challenged Dealer - My First Experience

He was right about checking it. You have to try and install it.

Don't expect to get every TSB performed gratis just because you have a printer.

Call the Honda national customer care number 1-800-999-1009, or visit the Honda Customer Care website ...Customer Relations - the Official Honda Web Site

Explain your problems to them, and ask their opinion. The folks at the national customer care place want you to be satisfied, and they'll steer you in the right direction.

Smile First Dealer Experience - Turned Out Good

Today I dropped off the Ridge at the dealer to get the following fluids changed: Transmission, VTM, Brake, and Power Steering.

Also I requested to get the transmission TSB applied. The dealer said the TSB had not been applied. They applied it and said it was covered under warranty.

I thought the pricing for the other items was reasonable. So in the end, my first experience with the local dealer turned out to be a good one.

Re: Service Challenged Dealer - My First Experience

I asked my dealership about the TSB's, specifically the transmission one, after picking up my truck. Since it had never been in for service before (it only had 3600 miles when I got it last January), I was curious. They said they ran the VIN and said I didn't have any of the TSB's done and I also didn't need any. I have no problems with my truck and it runs and rides great, although my mileage, now at 13-thousand miles, is still around 15 MPG.

My question is....can they check the TSBs by running the VIN or were they just blowing smoke.

I will be taking it back into the dealership tomorrow. While installing my FIGS hood prop, I noticed what I believe is an alternator cable being cut into by the serpintine belt. It had apparently come loos from it's bracket and was resting on the belt while it ran. It was cut into enough to melt the plastic sleeving, rubber insullation and some of the wiring inside. I wrapped the cable with electrical tape and put it back on it's bracket. I'll try and get pics later on and open a new thread on this.

Talking Re: Service Challenged Dealer - My First Experience

Rusty -

They cannot determine if the TSB has or has not been installed until they try to do the update. If the update has already been installed, they purportedly get a message that says the update has been previously installed. If it has not been installed, it will successfully apply the update. There was no information about the TSB being needed for mine on the Honda maintenance site. I think they were thinking about recalls or something else. But there is one recall for early 06 models in a specific VIN number range about the fuel pump. Mine is not in that range. Many posts are on the site about the recall.

Re: Service Challenged Dealer - My First Experience

ok ,
I checked honda's tech site the ridge tsb's are few and far
no real issues . the 06 trans tsb is a reprogram the tcm if and only if
it is not shifting into 4th intermittently
tsb's are not warranty and honda care will only pay for a repair if the condtion is confirmed .
mike
I can run your vin if you want
