Smile Good Gas Mileage

Yesterday I filled the tank up on the Ridgeine. I went 302 miles on 11.7 gallons for a mpg of 25.8. Of course that is driving pretty easy but still not bad.

these trucks do get great mpg i filled mine with 6.596306 gallons and did 112 miles thats 16.9592 MPG and its all city driving!!!!!!! and i have driven the car a little hard ("jack rabbit" starts, idel the car about 5 minutes before driving it, sitting with the car running before driving, gunning it.......) i cant wait to see what happens when the engine is broken in, and if i stop driving hard (like thats ever going to happen)
this is giving me better mileage then my last car a 2005 nissan murano awd

Always fun to deal with significant digits! Measuring gallons to the nearest millionth of a gallon (6 decimal places)! What a pump! 0.000001 gallon is the same as 0.0008 teaspoons or 0.0038 milliliters or 0.06 drops. My Organic Chem lab couldn't match that kind of accuracy.

Those stations like to dazzle you with BS, like readouts to 6 decimal places! Makes you feel like the pumps are "accurate." yea, right.

Re: Good Gas Mileage

On two trips back from the NC mountains, I got 25.5 and 23.3 mpg, with almost all highway miles. So far, I'm doing better than the EPA rating. And I only have 2,600 miles on my RL. Hoping to do even better as the truck approaches 10,000 miles and the engine is broken in well. I sure couldn't ask much more from a truck this size.

Re: Good Gas Mileage

Got 22 mpg on the first road trip; 20.5 on the second; and haven't broken 20 since. Average is about 17 driving I-5 at 70 mph in cruise all the way.

Re: Good Gas Mileage

Are you guys all driving 99% Highway Miles? I have a short commute to work with very few stretches of highway that I can drive around 60MPH with the cruise control on. Mostly City Driving and only averaging around 15-16MPG no matter what the circumstance, weather, tire pressure, vehicle weight, gas octane, etc.

It's actually making be re-consider getting a new RTS (my lease is up on my 06).

Re: Good Gas Mileage

There are lots of posts in ROC discussing gas mileage. I created a poll a while back and ~90% of the RL owners are averaging 15-20 mpg, depending on their driving conditions.

I have to disagree with point #2. A clogged air filter will decrease gas mileage. You need 3 things for combustion to take place. Fire, fuel, and air. If you decrease air supply, combustion is not as efficient. If it's decreased by 50%, your mileage will suffer.
