Traded the Ridgeline

Well, I hated to do it, but I couldn't help myself. I traded my '06 RTL for an '07 MDX Sport. The guys at the lot made me an offer I couldn't refuse. They gave me $18,500 for the RL and came down way below value on the MDX. I miss the Ridge already. Today I went to an MDX website because of an issue with the third row seat latch and it had nowhere near the information of the ROC. The good thing is that some aspects of the MDX are similar to the RL, only more refined. I'll still be around on the ROC, but just not as much. This MDX is really phenomenal. Take care.

Besides a deal you couldn't refuse, why did you give up on the Ridgeline? High mileage, mechanical problems, needed a different type of vehicle, mpg, tired of it? Just curious.

Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

Re: Traded the Ridgeline

Cochise did you find acurazine.com? I really like that site. There is a lot of good info on my TL, and I am sure they cover the MDX from bumper to bumper as well. Sorry to hear you gave up the RL, but I am sure the MDX will serve you well.

Re: Traded the Ridgeline

Does your MDX have SH-AWD? How does that compare to VTM-4?

I'm thinking SH-AWD allows power not just front/rear as needed, but also from side to side as needed too. Is that right?

One of the main reasons I traded was the lack of fore and aft rear seat room. With my 9 month old son in the car seat behind me, I had to pull my seat up about two inches and it made driving very uncomfortable and a little dangerous. I have a three year old in the car seat on the passenger side. The Acura probably only has about two inches of rear leg room, but I can also recline the rear seat a little and it give me plenty of room. The seats are much more comfortable as well and the steering wheel is tilt and telescopic. The drivetrain is so smooth that I can't even feel most downshifts. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but the MDX is just so refined compared to the RL, and it has that little extra power on hills that the RL is lacking. I will miss the in-bed trunk and the bed itself. I'm already shopping for a utility trailer and the MDX has the towing package. It also has a third row seat for extra passengers.

I don't know all of the intracacies of the SH-AWD v. VTM-4, but I do know that it is much smoother in the mountains of Colorado. As I wrote in the previous post, I can barely feel downshifts due to inclines. There is also less downshifting because of the extra power. I guess I discover the traction control operation in the winter months. I do need new tires, because the current OEM Bridgestones are on their last leg.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to take a look right now.
