Angry Tighten fuel cap

Ok, so I go to shut off my truck and I see a message on the dash indicating me to tighten fuel cap. So I step out of the truck and tighten it. Message is still there, so I remove and put it back on. Same message.

On page 289 in my manual it says: if I recently refueled my RL it can be loose or off and to give it a turn until it clicks but the message will take several days of driving before it dissapears!

I hope it does cause I have'nt gotten gas in a while and it's still more than half full!

Has this happened to you? It will suck if I have to buy a new cap since this one is still attached to the plastic holder!!!!!

Well thats my pet peeve for Today!

Not sure if you're being sarcastic. My first post was meant in fun. (Most here don't get my humour.)

Re: Tighten fuel cap

I see where a very often asked question about the tighten fuel cap warning is definitely puzzling coming from someone who is frequently on this forum.

No, not at all, this is the first time I ever heard of this or read about it!

I find the Search engine on this site just doesn't work, but I go to Google and search that way with the word Ridgeline in it, then it sometimes comes up.

By the way, it is still doing it, so I guess I'll have to replace the gas cap, which to me is annoying since it's only 4 years old!

Re: Tighten fuel cap

Tip: use the Google custom search... not the one in the upper right corner:

Be patient with it. Depending on the type of driving you do it could take up to a week to clear. As long as the check engine light stays off there should be no real problem.
And as speed said the "google custom search" at the top centre of the page is the best. Direct search of all things ROC.

Re: Tighten fuel cap

I got this message yesterday, too. I have an aftermarket locking fuel cap, and have had it for about a month now. I did get gas that day, and after about 2 minutes of driving, I heard a chime and saw the "CHECK FUEL CAP" message on the display. After about 30 min of driving, it went away on its own
