Can I switch rear o2 sensors to front?

Both of my front o2 sensors have went bad, and I don't have the money at the moment to replace them, can I switch the 2 from the back to the front? If I can, what will this cause to happen?

Re: Can I switch rear o2 sensors to front?

Take them out and test them with a digital meter and a propane torch. DON'T use the 'heat & quench' method. Just testing them will often give them new life because you'll be wire-brushing the crud off them, then blowing them out with the air hose, then cooking off the remaining impurities. GOOGLE it or contact me for a link if I can find it.

If that doesn't cure it, use Amazon.com to figure out which models are the 'universal' replacements, which come with splicing kits.

Switching them back to front will give you the opportunity to clean and test all four. Aren't the cables different lengths?

Remember to do the Idle Learn Procedure after you put it all back together. That might have saved those sensors in the first place if the previous owner had done that for you.
