Stereo won't accept code
New here, long time reader first timer writer. *I've got an issue and needed some help or direction. *
I have a post Aug 24, 2005 06 Ridgeline RTS. *I was getting it ready for a travel trailer so I ordered and installed a hitch, hitch harness assembly 100B, and a brake controller. * 1. *Once install was complete, I went to terminate the negative terminal on my battery like the procedure says. *Went to enter the stereo code (which was written on my owner's manual, maintenance manual and glove compartment. *Sure enough, it doesn't work. *All three places have the exact same number, so I doubt it's the wrong number. *And I've tried to enter it numerous different ways (like key in different positions) what could be wrong because it's getting pretty annoying? * 2. *After googling the stereo issue, I read online that every time you disconnect the battery there is a Idle Procedure you have to perform. *The idle does seem a little rougher. *Do I have to perform this? *And does someone have to perform this every single time they disconnect the battery (or battery goes dead?) I got the auto window thing is done, it was the only thing that worked correctly. *No travel trailer yet but were getting one soon, so no testing that out yet, but here's hoping.* Thanks ahead for any help.* |

Re: Stereo won't accept code
The ILP is not mandatory unless your truck suffers significant loss in gas mileage. Not all trucks loose it unless the battery is disconnected for a long time. If you search ILP you will find it, it is not hard to do.
If you dont find the radio code in the glove compartment you will need to contact the dealer to get the serial number from the radio and the code. Usually it is a white sticker placed on the outer part of the glove compartment once you open it. Search on the Mobil electronics section for more details about the radio code. |

Re: Stereo won't accept code
Yeah, the stereo code is in the glove compartment and it matches the number written in my owners manual & my maintenance manual. There something else you gotta do in the sequence?

Re: Stereo won't accept code
Nothing special. You have 10 tries to input the correct code. If unsuccessful in 10 tries, you have to leave the radio on for 1 hour before you can try again.
How many digits in your code? It should be five. You can also find your radio code here: http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/

If you become convinced you have the wrong code you can get the correct one here: https://radio-navicode.honda.com/

Re: Stereo won't accept code
Yeah, it's a 5 digit code written in three separate locations, and they all match. I'll try out that website.

Re: Stereo won't accept code
If you are registered with Honda motors, you can call them provide the vin # and they could help you.
You can get the s/n of the unit by pressing 611 or 61 at the same time, I forget, search it in the mobile section as I said before. Once you have the serial number then call honda motors or go to the Dealer and they should give you a code. |

Re: Stereo won't accept code
Talked to Honda today. Sure enough, the stereo codes they had stamped in all three locations were wrong. They gave me the correct code (after getting the s/n) and the code they gave me worked on first attempt.

Re: Stereo won't accept code
Thanks for the update. That was puzzling and made no sense why the original codes did not work. I wonder if your radio was replaced at some point? Did you buy your RL used?
