Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

I just was doing my pioneer nav install and found out my stock subwoofer won't work any more guessing that was the second plug that was not hooked into the aftermarket harness. So useless sub now, I have extra subs and amps from my last Honda so here is the main question has anyone built a bandpass box with 2 10's ? Or maybe another idea? Thanks in advance

Re: Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

Wow! is it worth it? Ported boxes are hard enough already. I am aware of some members with single ported boxes, one I can recall, I am sure there are some more, but not dual bandpass ones that I am aware of.

Just knowing the fact that bandpass boxes sound really bad with some types of music it is something I would not be interested in doing but I would be interested in just knowing if you can build one and you post pictures here.

Subthump makes boxes for under the rear seat, down fire ones. Or you can go with just a single MDF box that replaces the factory one, with a an SQ10 shallow sub, that is the only option to keep a factory look and that is made by Elemental Designs

If your HU has the 5th and 6th channel rcas for the sub, all you need is an amp for it, but you will not be able to drive it with more than 40 watts.

Hopefully other members can suggest other options, I think I covered all of them, and sorry to disagree about a bandpass box option.

Question Re: Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

Can't you wire your OEM Sub into the Pioneer?

Re: Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

Apparently not without a 40-50 watt amplifier.

A $30.00 motorcycle amplifier maybe?

Let us know what your plan is, unless an owner posts a bandpass box.

There was a member that removed the center console and placed a dual sub box there, but I do not remember if it was a sealed, ported or bandpass, I just remember he had set up to use only one sub if he wanted.

Re: Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

i'm curious to see how a shallow depth band pass box would turn out, just not curious to hear it

Re: Subwoofer enclosure bandpass??

Bandpass boxes are hard to build and even harder to design. The most common box has a sealed rear chamber and a ported front chamber. I do not think you can build a good one without design software.

Bandpass boxes are also large. The only sound advantage is potentially higher output over a narrow frequency range. Small potential advantage for the compromises required.

A BP box with two 10 inch subs could easily have a 1.5 cu. ft rear chamber and a front about that size. Do you have 3 cu. ft. to work with in the Ridgeline?

Completely agree here. You pretty much need design software to successfully build a bandpass. Even then, you won't have the room in the back of the RL, either behind or under the rear seat, to build one of suitable size. You CAN use your Pioneer HU to power the stock sub if you want by using the rear channel speaker outputs of the HU, but you won't be putting very much power to it. Not only that, but you'll lose the functionality of the rear speakers (if you aren't using an amp for the door speakers). The easiest and least expensive way to go about it is to build your own sealed enclosure and add an aftermarket sub amp.
