Golf Ball

Had a great golf trip in my new 3 week old Ridgeline yesterday. Amazing how well 4 golf bags fit in my bed with my newly installed bedrug and Bakflip cover. 4 guys fit comfortably and the new Pioneer stereo and speakers rocked! Had beer in my cooler/trunk and 4 of us drove up to tournament in Franklin KY. Great day too! Shot well, weather was amazing, and the course was in spectacular shape.

When we got there I decided to park my car away from most of the other cars (as all new car owners do). Fast forward a couple hours and we were teeing off and I could see my Ridge from the tee box. It was probably 275 on the ride side of the fairway. Many jokes went by from my group about hitting it. One of our foursome actually hit one within 20 yards of my truck. At that moment I realized how terrible my parking was but by now it was too late.

Fast forward an hour later, and as we walked up to the truck I hesitantly took a cursory look along my driver side and it looked all clear. Phew... Then, I was pulling out and someone stopped me and said "Did you see the dent in your quarter panel?" NO WAY!!! I got out and sure enough, a big dent right there. He was very apologetic but there was nothing I could do.

Limited amounts of googling has told me this isn't a horrible thing to fix but man it sucks! Brand new truck that I am proud to have. I have washed it more in 3 weeks than I washed my old Tundra all year. Now I have this big dent right there where I see it every time I open the door. Oh well... Just thought I would vent to a group that could feel my pain!

Re: Golf Ball

Post a pic of the dent. Most likely you can get the dent repaired with PDR (Paintless Dent Removal). In my area, the charge runs about $75 per panel.

I just had several dents removed in the passenger side of my BMW 3-Series and there is no trace that the dents were ever there.

Re: Golf Ball

A "big dent"? How big a dent can a golf ball make? I know from experience that any dent on a new car breaks your heart but a golf ball dent is something easily fixed I'm sure. I live on a golf course, along side a par three. There have been many wild duck hooks that have placed balls in my yard but I never had one break a window on my house in nearly 20 years. One day I noticed my hot tub's wood siding had a pretty good crack in it from a golf ball I found laying next to it on the deck. It had to have been a terrible shot but not nearly as bad as that 275 yard slice it took to hit your truck! And I agree with you, the Ridgeline is the perfect vehicle to use to take a group golfing. Every time my friends want to play away from our home course they make me drive!!

Re: Golf Ball

Ironically enough, I had two dings taken out on Friday at a local PDR place. As I was discussing the "dings" with the tech (I had a small, perfectly symmetrical ding on the hood) , I mentioned that I had gotten one on another vehicle from a baseball that was pretty decent size, so I couldn't figure out what had caused this one on the hood. He guessed it might have been something like an acorn. While discussing the baseball dent, he mentioned that golf balls dings were the most difficult to COMPLETELY remove because the actual ball dimples can be transferred within the dent, depending on how hard the ball hit the vehicle. He said that when this is the case, you can get the parent dent out, but the child dimples will always remain somewhat visible on inspection.

Hopefully yours was far enough away that you didn't get the ball dimples in your ding (wow, that sounds funny).

We all know how painful that can be.

About 14 years ago when I started playing gold I hit a nice high slice with a 7 iron and it came down on the roof of an MP car in Korea. It caved the roof in about 6 to 8 inches and blew out the back window....
