Cleaning the Composite Bed

What are people Generally using to clean the composite bed of the Ridgeline? Anything Special or just washing it? Anyone using regular wax? Its getting warm on New England and washing and waxing season will be starting soon.

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

I've seen others on the ROC who have done special things to their composite bed - me? I just wash it - I wax the truck, but leave the bed alone - IMO, it is a truck - therefore, the bed is supposed to be dinged and show proud signs of wear (but no tear!).

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

Hey Razor...
Just down the street here in Peabody. Spent all morning yesterday washing mine. Great weather we're having this weekend. The bed, well, I left mine as you don't really see in it. I washed it but just left it to dry. Went out this moring and did the entire interior with 303. Not sure what to do with the bed. I would love for it to stay pristine but it's a tricky surface. Plus, as Ridgeln says, "it is a truck". hehe How could you say that!!

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

I don't use my truck as a truck - I buy them because I think trucks are neat, thats all. So, if do haul something I throw a big, thick old comforter back there to protect the bed. I use it so infrequently that a rubber protector mat is not really necessary. For this reason I like the bed to look as good as the rest of the vehicle. I want no dings or scratches back there.

I wash the bed with an old mit whenever I wash the truck's exterior. I dry it a bit but not bone dry. The next day when it is totally dry I spray some Armor All protectant on it, rub it in and it looks great. Yes, it is a little slippery but I don't stand back there in the bed. I use protectant 303 in my interior but it is too expensive just for the bed. If there is a scratch, I believe there is a gel called Forever Black that will restore the color (however, I have not had occasion to use it).

Thumbs up Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

I usually have a Protecta Skid Guard mat in my bed, which has caused some dirt stains not cleaned up when going thru an ordinary car wash.

I used Mother's Back to Black tonight and it did a great job. I even used it on the mat and it looks great. It was someone else's recommendation as well that prompted me to use it.

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

I started using my bed to haul a ton of things around including yard work items as well as moving some friends and family. The composite bed got scratched up so fast I decided to invest in a Line-X spray on bedliner. By far the best investment I could have chosen. Now for cleaning, I simply wash and wipe it down. No more worrying about every darn scratch and ding as well as sliding objects. If you have the money, use your bed a ton, and care too much to leave it with dings and scratches, it's definately a great investment.

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

I washed my Ridge this weekend and used Dawn diswashing liquid to clean the bed -- just used a rag and scrubbed it down quickly. I've been using it on wheels and to get bug guts off of bumpers and stuff for years and it works great.

I just wash it when I wash the truck and wipe it somewhat dry,

Re: Cleaning the Composite Bed

Try cleaning bird crap off the bed liner.. its tough. I accidently got some wax on the liner and that was a pain to get clean..... but its fun on a sunny day to spend hours detailing the Ridge with a few brewskies.

Hello. I just bought a demo RTS that had some scratches in the bed and was wondering about getting them out of it. When they sprayed your bed with the Line-X, how did it affect the operation of the in-bed trunk? Were they able to spray the bed while keeping that working normally? That might be a good option for me to consider.
