King Kong: Opinions

I am 3/4 of the way through the movie king kong and wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Pros:
The sound is really stunning.
THe special effects are impressive.
The battle between Kong and the T-Rex is retty wild
The humor between Kong and Ann is kind of funny.

Cons:
It is LONG.
The stampede of the brontasauruses, (spelling may be off) stretched it, they would run under this herd of these giants and only a couple guys get stomped
The mega insect scene went a little far, maybe it is because I have a lil fear of some bugs, at least mega ones. But they would make it through like 200 of these things.

May have some more as things progress. Just was curious what other people thought.

Typical Hollywood action movie. I expected alittle more substance from Jackson after doing the LOR trilogy. I think the natives on the island were alittle too weird...but still better than alot of the crap out for rent.

Good movie. Kong was very impressive. Jackson tried and succeeded in capturing that whole 1930's look. Naomi Watts was great and I even enjoyed Jack Black. However I saw the movie in a big screen movie theater when it first came out. Seeing it again on DVD at home was not as thrilling.

Waaaaaaaay too long! Some of the interaction between kong and the blonde was silly bordering on stupid! The special effect was great, some of the photography was hokey!

Re: King Kong: Opinions

Jackson made the best possible remake of the original King Kong (if you ignore the fact that Jackson's version is was waaay too long).

Problem is that I don't think the original deserved to be remade.

A great Lord of the Rings movie had to be made and Jackson did an incredible job on that. But he should have listened to everyone who told him a remake of King Kong was a bad idea.

Re: King Kong: Opinions

I think most agree that it was too long, I don't think there was a frame that hit the cutting room floor. I was also surprised that it was rated PG-13, there was some graphic stuff going on in this movie.
