Re: any duck hunters

Well, I'm not a duck hunter yet.

Hoping to get in with a buddy of mine from church next year when the season opens. Working on training a Golden (5 1/2 months) for retrieving the ducks.

All I need now is a shiny new Ridgeline to make my duck hunting equipment complete!!

Re: any duck hunters

We do a bit of duck hunting at our lease. We have 7 stock ponds that we jump ducks at during the season. A couple of our guys are big D.U. supporters and one fellow makes the best duck sandwhich you ever tasted.

For tender duck that does not taste like liver, try making some duck gumbo and simmer the duct breasts for a good while before adding the rest of the goodies in. Mighty fine vitals.
Of course you could use the famous bacon wrap recipe where you wrap the seasoned duck breast and a piece of onion or jalapeno with bacon and grill till the bacon is done. Remove from the grill and unwrap everything, eat the bacon and veggie and throw the breast over your shoulder.

Re: any duck hunters

I do much more huntin' than killin'. The past couple of seasons and really stunk it up for me and my son. Next year will always be better though.

Smile Calling All Duck Hunters

In November ya'll need to come up to the World's Championship Duck Calling Contest and festival in Stuttgart Arkansas. I've got a bunch of relatives who are either professional guides or who provide some post hunt freezer packaging.

Do you know about Mack's Prarie Wings place where it all begins?

Hey OwnerCS,
One of my hunting buddies is from the Stuttgart area and he and his wife are big DU sponsors there. He had the most incredible duck blind on his parents property I have ever seen. It was "developed" over many years and the best description I can come up with is that it looks like something from the Swiss Family Robinson tree house collection. It runs between a bunch of trees with different levels, a kitchen area, ramps and platforms for dogs, boat dock........The sad thing is someone bought the land next to his parents and he found out his blind was about 200 yards across their property line. He sure took it hard.
I know the hunting has been off for the last couple years, he is hoping the flyways have not changed permanently.
Macks is an awesome place also. Been there a couple times with him.

Re: any duck hunters

I hunt near Stuttgart AR, we had a bumper year last year. lots of water! The reason I traded my 04 Tacoma in was due to getting stuck in the front yard of the duck club. I am hoping the ridge will prevent that from happening again! I will find out in six months when Duck season starts again.

I saw a preivious post about eating Buffleheads. those are nasty!
