Newbie - Build Date Question

I've been reading the forums and I'm a bit concerned about the earliers RLs that seem to have the "bugs". I just purchased a DEMO RTL w/ 6K miles on it. I has just about everything on it, including most accessories like, roof-rack, chrome wheels, chrome trim, brush guard, bed extender, XM, mud guards, hitch, metallic interior trim, running boards, key-locking hitch pin, wheel locks, auto-day/night mirror and all-weather floor mats.

Not to mention it is Black, the color I liked the best.

At over $8K off the sticker, I thought it was too good a deal to pass-up. But, now I'm thinking this is one of the earlier build dates, as VIN ends in the 505032. Does anyone know how to tell the build date from the VIN and what the build date for first RLs was.

Another reason I think my RL is an earlier on, is that I can't seem to get the Auto-unlock feature to work for all doors. I've read that the pre-9/05 RLs need and upgrade to make this work.

Thanks.

scottg918514 - You can check the build date, by opening the drivers door. There will be a white label on the bottom of the door frame. It will have the build date.

While there were some "bugs" with the early build dates, the percentage of RLs experiencing these issues was quite low. I have a 05/05 build date and was fortunate enough to not experience any of the "bugs" as have many others.

Ouch, thanks Gadgetz, I just checked the stick, 02/05. I must have one of the first runs. Fingers crossed already. I already have the steering wheel creak issue.

I too have a 2/5 build scott...but don't worry buddy. You'll fall so in love with driving your Ridgeline the bugs, if you get them, will mean nothing.
Welcome to the ROC!!

Thumbs up Re: Newbie - Build Date Question

Scott,

Looks like you got one hell of a deal!!!

Sounds like you might have over 3K in aftermarket options and you got it at 8K under sticker?? Problably the best Ive seen since reading the threads. GOOD JOB!!

Ive had my Ridge for about 3 days now and love it. Build date is 06/05 and am waiting a few weeks to comment on how it holds up.

Just so you know.. I paid $26,500 for my RTS with rear mud flaps.. I needed you at the negotiations!!! Still feel I got a pretty good deal though. The Ridgelines are a little scarce here in the greater Pittsburgh area. Very few RTS and mostly RTL which is great if you can afford the price jump... (I eeeked out an RTS over an RT in the last half an hour)

Anyway.. Good job and good luck!!!

What dealer did you buy from? I got mine from Smail Honda Villiage in Greensburg.

I agree about availability - most dealers only seem to have one or two. Smail was the only one who didn't try the "short supply=higher price" line.

Good color and trim level choice you made :-)
